Descripción This study aims to examine how was the physical education and sports in the experienced Catholic schools in Recife during the Estado Novo (1937 - 1945). Trying to see what differentiates a College confessional of a secular college, what is theorigin these colleges, what teacher training or instructors who developed the practice of education physical and sports in college, how important this practice for the training of students of the Colleges Confessional and what is the vision of that body were linked to these practices. For the development of work using iconographic analysis and the photographs as primary sources of our work, thus a story through pictures. The Our main crop is the Marist College in Recife, founded in 1924 and Sacred Heart Salesian College, founded in 1894, both installed at the Boa Vista center of Recife. What we concluded was that physical education and sports in schools Catholics are different from Recife in the objectives area proposed for the other institutions of learning in period of the crop. Catholics do not have adopted the trend hegemonic militarism preached by the military with the order to turn students into soldiers defenders the homeland. Following a direction of the Holy See, Catholic colleges saw physical education and sport as a way of developing physical and biological and pupils as an area for release oftensions caused by the harsh routine of study. So, still contains a secular vision of body supported by disclosure of São Paulo. To ensure perfect harmony and consecration of an education and moral, crest themselves priests take care of the minister classes in physical education and sports in schools, making an exception to these rules of that the military conducted the lessons of physical education during the Estado Novo.
