[From the Introduction]. The papers first section briefly summarises the post-Cold war debate on security. The second section develops a two-dimensional typology to measure change in security perceptions. Section three applies this typology to Euro-Mediterranean relations, beginning with the military aspects of the post-Cold war period. In section four I focus on migration before considering, in section five, so-called Islamic fundamentalism, terrorism, trade exchanges and environmental challenges. The concluding section returns to the analysis of security and the utility of the typology developed for the Euro-Mediterranean case.
