Nas pegadas de Alice: metáforas do ciberespaço
Eduardo Luís Figueiredo de Lima
Location: http://www.cbc.ufms.br/tedesimplificado/tde_busca/arquivo.php?codArquivo=171

The virtual world is constantly present in literature. Books such as the romance Alice in wonderland from Lewis Carroll or "The Aleph" from Jorge Luis Borges represent the aspirations of the human being to break the sensorial barriers of what we use to interpret as reality. A new type of media, the internet, appeared in the XXI century, bringing along the very surfacing of a new virtual world, which may well be the world foresaw by Carroll and Borges. This new universe constituted by the internet and the cyberspace, generates the cyber culture and is explored in practically all the areas of human knowledge, especially in literature, by means of a multiple production of texts. The chronicle, typically a piece that allows a fast and light reading, common in the second half of the XX century, reappears as an instrument of communication between the "new" and the tradition.
