The recycling of urban solid waste is presented in the current context as a short term formula to moderate the problematic growing resulted from the actual society consumption standard. The principal studies found in the literature are about the environmental problems resulted from the growing production of residues, the generation of job and income for the pickers of recyclable materials and their cooperatives and about regulation and public politics about the subject. Nevertheless, there are little works that treat the recycling from an economical context, creator of income for the country and these economical profits. So, the objective ofthis dissertation is to analyze the recycling industry that turns the urban solid waste into secondary raw materials and introduce them in the productive chain for the preparation ofnew products. The chosen methodology was the Input-Output Analysis, since it allows visualizing the economy of an integrated and separated form, visualizing its interrelations.Through the key-sectors and sensibility analysis were identified the key-sectors of the recycling industry and the economical profits individualized for each type of materialsusceptible to recycling. By the individualized analyses were possible describe the global savings resultant from the urban solid waste recycling for the Brazil 2004 economy, where therecycling of R$ 30,682 billions turned in a direct economy of R$ 20,222 billions and, and when the direct and indirect impacts were valued, R$ 87,277 billions in pure raw materialsstopped being consumed.
