This dissertation aim is to evaluate if Serviço Social da Indústria, Bahia regional department, could join the excellence organization status, using as reference de Excellence Criteria Basis, from Quality National Award Foundation and the books: Done to Last Forever, from James Collins and Jerry Porras, and Global Class, from Rosabeth Moss Kanter. A case evaluation has been done with documents analysis and a quantitative research with people who work for the organization, to identify the internal concordance level with the key question based on the values: leadership and aim maintenance, future view, focus in the client and in the market, social responsibility and ethics, fact based decisions, people valorization, process analysis, focus on results, innovation, quickness, organizational learning and system view. These values resume the ideas from the based references. The results show that most of the values inside an excellence organization are in SESI DR-BA and among them are the strong ideology and the recognizing that the organization practices its ethics. However, there still are obstacles to be broken to achieve the excellence level specially those concerning to the quickness and innovation. We hope the present work can contribute to the identification of better short and long-term opportunities to the managing of the organization, which can impulse, its development.
