Descripción The Department of Agronomy and Horticulture is part of the College of Biology and Agriculture. It was created in 1967 when the Department of Agronomy and the Department of Horticulture were merged to strengthen both programs. The new department was part of the College of Biological and Agricultural Science that had been created in 1954. Prior to that, both departments had been members of the College of Applied Sciences. An important part of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture is the University farm located in Spanish Fork, Utah. This collection is divided into three series: I. Indian History Project, II. Department History Project, and III. Other Projects The Indian History Project records contain correspondence, notes, reports, and newspaper clippings relating to the work of Dr. Raymond B. Farnsworth with American Indians. The Department History Project contains a copy of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture's 100 year history, notes on material to include in the history, and a brief article about the early roots of the department called "They who Plowed." The Other Projects records contain information on agricultural projects undertaken in South America, Libya and with the Utah Idaho Sugar Company.
