The study aimed to reveal the conception of students and teachers of a Law School on Philosophy and Law Philosophy and the importance of these disciplines in the education and professional practice of the lawyer. It was also approached the possible reasons of the state of lack of satisfaction about the law teaching, in order to verify if there is a connection between this state and the teaching of philosophy. The study was undertaken in a private university in Brasilia-DF, through a survey, using a questionnaire with open and closed questions, applied to a sample of teachers and students of the 9th and 10th semester. The literature about the law teaching, since it started, underlines the criticism and constant modifications of the curriculum, as an evidence of his inadequacy. The study also deals with the creation of the Brazilian Lawyers Order and the importance it had in the structuring of the law carrier and also in the definition of parameters for the education of this professional category. The results of the research reveal that there is not a clear understanding about the meaning of philosophy among teachers and students, notwithstanding the importance of the philosophical studies is recognized for the education and practice of the lawyer. Finally, are presented some conclusions and recommendations on the matter.
