NII ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????NII ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
The number of name authority file records being contributed to the NII union catalog is decreasing, as is the rate of name fields in bibliographic records being linked to name authority records. On one hand we can see an increase in the yield rate of name authority records, but it is possible that it is related to the decreasing number of libraries contributing records. We know that an individual institution's cataloging burden decreases as more libraries contribute records to the NII union catalog, and it helps to attract more libraries to the union catalog. But our observation suggests
that, on the other hand, it leads deterioration of cataloging knowledge among participating libraries, and there will be a decrease in the yield rate and an increase in the costs of maintaining the union catalog system. The author calls for an improved operational system that will be able to break the negative cycle.
