Descripción This research analyzed the repercussion of the Models of Contemporary Management as named by CHANLAT(1985),in the health of the worker .On a specific way it searched for identifying the psychosocial factors associated to the new models of management and assessing the association among this factors and the production of the psychical stress. Even that in thesis the new patterns of management present positive characteristics as changes in the conditions, work organization and worker qualification (ULRICH,1989; ORLICKAS,1999;GRAMIGNA,2002)to the health of the worker, it has to be considered the negative impacts to workers HIRATA,1994; COUTO; MORAES,1999; AKTOUF,2001; AGUIAR,2002; ANTUNES,2002).this descriptive investigation was achieved in an enterprise of the segments of services in Bahia, developed in two interlinked stages, in which 101 workers took part. In the first stage a survey of data was done to the characterization of the enterprise and its management pattern. In the second stage, it was opted by a quantitative approach, through a transversal descriptive research, to assess the relation of the psychosocial factors at work with the psychical stress. This research adopted the NIOSH (2003) concept of occupational stress, that incorporates aspects of the stress psychosocial approaches named Control -Demand Model(KARASEK,1979): Social Support-Control Demand Model of Karasek and Theorel(THEORELL,1998);Model of regard -effort unbalance(SIEGRIST,1998) and ecological model (LEVI,1997). The instruments used were the Copenhagem Psychosocial Questionnaire(COPSOQ) and the General Health Questionnaire (QSG), in itssummarized version validated in Brasil by Pasquali et al. In the analysis of the collected data the Statistical Package for Social Science was used (SPSS). The results pointed that the high/medium demands at work (quantitative demands, cognitive, emotional, to the deletion ofemotions and sensorial) such among women (high quantitative demand, cognitive , emotional to the deletion and indication of medium level of sensorial demand) as among men ( high quantitative demands and emotional, medium cognitive demands, to the deletion of emotions and sensorial)are related to the occurrence of psychical stress. Concerning to control at work, assessed in this research by the dimensions, possibilities of development and influence at work , it was observed that the indication, by workers, of having medium/low level in at least one these dimensions in the context of work, is related to the occurrence of psy chical stress.Finally, considering the results and limits of this investigation, it is suggested a new agenda of research to the enlargement and reassessment.
