Descripción Thermodynamic functions for transfer (DtrsH°,DtrsG° eDtrsS°) of the homologous series of alcoohols (C1-C8) from aqueous phase to sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) micellar solutions were calorimetrically measured using the pseudo-phase model. The thermodynamic functions for transfer were also obtained by using the values of CMC (critical micelle concentration) together with the Treiner equation. The results were compared with those from the literature and allowed us to evaluate several aspects involved in transfer process. Using the pseudo-phase model to study transfer, the same calculations were repeated for the transferprocess of aliphatic alchools (C1-C6) from the aqueous phase to the micellar phase of SDS solution containing electrolytes (NaCl 0,05 a 0,5 moles.I ). In these case we observed a similar behaviour in transfer of alcohols/micelles (SDS). Finally the enthalpies of interaction between etanol, 1-Hexanol and 1-Octanol with Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells suspensions and the enthalpy of solution for these alchohols with isotonic solutions were calorimetrically measured. The results show that DintH°/kJ.mol increases with the addition of - CH2 groups. The study above is very important for the understanding of hidrophobic effect in transfer process.
