[Excerpt] The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) recently conducted a pilot study to learn more about occupational injuries and illnesses that in days of job transfer or work restriction. This purpose of this study is to compare the case circumstances and worker characteristics of injuries and illnesses that require days away from work to recuperate and those that lead to days of job transfer or restriction only, without time away from work. The pilot study used data from 2011 through 2013, and it focused on six initial private industries: Specialty trade contractors Food manufacturing Building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers Air transportation Warehousing and storage Nursing and residential care facilities
