SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online
(52,285 recursos)
SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) is an electronic library covering a selected collection of Brazilian scientific journals. The objective of the site is to implement an electronic virtual library, providing full access to a collection of serial titles, a collection of issues from individual serial titles, as well as to the full text of articles. The project envisages the development of a common methodology for the preparation, storage, dissemination and evaluation of scientific literature in electronic format.

Conflicting genomes, the demic theory & biodiversity - Hoenigsberg,H.F.
Moreover, the presence of parasitic genomes as in acanthocephalan worms, which even manipulate suicidal behavior in their hosts; segregation distorters that change meiosis and Mendelian ratios; selfish genes and selfish whole chromosomes, such as the case of B-chromosomes in grasshoppers; P-elements in Drosophila; driving Y-chromosomes that manipulate sex ratios making males more frequent, as in Hamilton's X-linked drive; male strategists and outlaw genes, are eloquent examples of the presence of real conflicting genomes and of a non-uniform phenotypic coherence and genome harmony.

Cat genetic profiles in Catalonia, Spain - Ruiz-Garcia,Manuel; Alvarez,Diana
A study was made of three aspects of the genetic composition of some cat populations in Catalonia (Northeastern Iberian Peninsula, Spain).

Toxicity and genotoxicity of the fungicide triphenyltin hydroxide - Koppe Grisolia,Cesar; Bicalho-Valadares,Mércia E.
A study was made on the effect of triphenyltin hydroxide (TPTH) on the reproductive success of the snail Biomphalaria tenagophila and its genotoxicity in rat bone marrow cells in vivo and in human lymphocytes in vitro.

Cytochemistry of DNA, RNA and nuclear proteins - Mello,Maria Luiza S.
Classical (Feulgen, basophilia and acidophilia reactions and optical anisotropy) and recently developed (critical electrolyte concentration - usual and variant techniques -, tests for apoptosis and AgNOR image analysis) tests for the cytochemistry of DNA, RNA and nuclear proteins are briefly considered in the context of in vitro and in situ research situations.
