SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online
(52,285 recursos)
SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) is an electronic library covering a selected collection of Brazilian scientific journals. The objective of the site is to implement an electronic virtual library, providing full access to a collection of serial titles, a collection of issues from individual serial titles, as well as to the full text of articles. The project envisages the development of a common methodology for the preparation, storage, dissemination and evaluation of scientific literature in electronic format.

Diallel cross analysis for young plants of brachytic maize (Zea mays L.) varieties - Dantas,Ana C. Vello; Miranda Filho,José B.; Alleoni,Maria R.B.
Twenty-eight days after planting, data for eight traits were taken for weights of the total plant (TPW), top plant (TOW), total roots (TRW), seminal roots (SRW), and nodal roots (NRW) and number of total roots (TRN), seminal roots (SRN), and nodal roots (NRN).

A search for RFLP markers to identify genes for aluminum tolerance in maize - Torres,Giovana A.; Parentoni,Sidney N.; Lopes,Maurício A.; Paiva,Edilson
The objective of this study was to identify restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers linked to QTLs that control aluminum (Al) tolerance in maize.

Chromosome number and secondary constriction variation in 51 accessions of a citrus germplasm bank - Guerra,Marcelo; Pedrosa,Andrea; Silva,Ana Emília Barros e; Cornélio,Maria Tereza Marquim; Santos,Karla; Soares Filho,Walter dos Santos
The mitotic chromosomes of 51 citrus accessions from the Centro Nacional de Pesquisa em Mandioca e Fruticultura Tropical, Cruz das Almas, BA, Brazil, were analyzed.

Use of canonical variates in genetic divergence studies - Ferreira,Daniel Furtado; Rezende,Gabriel Dehon Sampaio Peçanha
Exact correlation coefficients between a canonical variate and measured traits were derived to evaluate genetic divergence among varieties.

Predicting variety composite means without diallel crossing - Chaves,Lázaro J; Miranda Filho,José B. de
Thus, the predicted mean for a quantitative trait of a composite is given by: Yk = a1 sigmaVj + a2sigmaTj + a3 - a4, with coefficients a1 = (n - 2k)/k²(n - 2); a2 = 2n(k - 1)/k²(n - 2); a3 = n(k - 1)/k(n - 1)(n - 2); and a4 = n²(k - 1)/k(n - 1)(n - 2); summation is for j = 1 to k, where k is the size of the composite (number of parental varieties of a particular composite) and n is the total number of parent varieties.

Deletion/inversion in the X-chromosome and increased telomeric associations in a female with primary amenorrhea - Multani,Asha S.; Shah,Vinod C.; Singh,Divya; Chakravarty,Nivedita; Chinoy,Niloufer J.; Pathak,Sen
We describe a new case of a partial interstitial deletion and inversion of the long arm of the X-chromosome associated with a high incidence of telomeric associations in an 18-year old female who showed underdeveloped secondary sex characteristics, including small breasts and primary amenorrhea.
