Flames with Chain-Branching/Chain-Breaking Kinetics - Joulin, G; Liñán Martínez, Amable; Ludford, G. S. S.; Peters, N.; Schmidt-Laine, C.
A steady plane flame subject to the chain-branching/chain-breaking kinetics A plus X yields 2X, 2X plus M yields 2P plus M is considered for a certain distinguished limit of parameter values corresponding to fast recombination.

Structure and stability of flames with two sequential reactions - Peláez Álvarez, Jesús; Liñán Martínez, Amable
An asymptotic analysis is presented for the structure of steady planar flames, and for their response to nonplanar perturbations, when the reaction mechanism can be modelled by two sequential reactions with the same large value of activation energies.
24.
Ignition of a rectangular solid by an external heat flux - Vázquez Espí, Carlos; Liñán Martínez, Amable
The influence of corners on the ignition of a solid exposed to a surface energy flux is analyzed with large activation energy asymptotics.
25.
Chain-branching explosions in mixing layers - Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Liñán Martínez, Amable; Williams, F.A.
The chain-branching process leading to ignition in the high-temperature hydrogen-oxygen mixing layer is studied by application of a novel WKB-like method when, as is typically the case, two branching radicals cannot be assumed to maintain steady state.
26.
The coupling of motion and conductive heating of a gas by localized energy sources - Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Jiménez Alvárez, Jose Luis; Liñán Martínez, Amable
The problems of plane, line, and point heat sources are all investigated, with a power law for the temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity, after reduction to a quasi-linear heat equation for the temperature.
27.
Relationships between bifurcation and numerical analyses for ignition of hydrogen-air diffusion flames - Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Balakrishnan, G.; Liñán Martínez, Amable; Williams, F.A.
Linear bifurcation and numerical techniques are employed to determine critical conditions for ignition in steady, counterflow, nonpremixed hydrogen-air systems, with varying degrees of nitrogen dilution of the fuel, at temperatures larger than the crossover temperature associated with the second explosion limit for hydrogen.
28.
Transient effects in droplet ignition phenomenon - Fachini, F. F.; Liñán Martínez, Amable
We discuss the transient effects of mass and energy accumulation processes and of an applied acoustic field interaction on the droplet ignition phenomenon.
30.
Wind-aided flame spread under oblique forced flow - Tizón Pulido, Juan Manuel; Salvá Monfort, José Juan; Liñán Martínez, Amable
he wind-aided flame spread process along a solid fuel rod under oblique forced flow is analyzed in absence of gravity or when the forced flow dominates the gravity-induced flow.

The reduced kinetic description of lean premixed combustion - Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Lépinette, A.; Liñán Martínez, Amable; Lázaro Gómez, Benigno
Lean premixed methane-air flames are investigated in an effort to facilitate the numerical description of CO and NO emissions in LP (lean premixed) and LPP (lean premixed prevaporized) combustion systems.
35.
The reduced kinetic description of lean premixed combustion - Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Lépinette, A.; Bollig, M.; Liñán Martínez, Amable; Lázaro Gómez, Benigno
Lean premixed methane-air flames are investigated in an effort to facilitate the numerical description of CO and NO emissions in LP (lean premixed) and LPP (lean premixed prevaporized) combustion systems.
36.
Laminar mixing in diluted and undiluted fuel jets upstream from lifted flames - Revuelta Bayod, Antonio; Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Liñán Martínez, Amable
The problem is integrated for relevant values of the flow parameters, including values of the stoichiometric air-to-fuel mass ratio S of order unity, when the lifted flame is located in the region of jet development, corresponding to distances from the injector of order Re a.
37.
On the calculation of the minimum ignition energy - Kurdyumov, V.; Blasco, J.; Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Liñán Martínez, Amable
The success of the initiation of a deflagration by an external energy source depends on the competition of heat conduction and radical diffusion with chemical heat release.
38.
Lift-off and blowoff of a diffusion flame between parallel streams of fuel and air - Fernández Tarrazo, Eduardo; Vera Coello, Marcos; Liñán Martínez, Amable
A numerical analysis is presented to describe the liftoff and blowoff of a diffusion flame in the mixing layer between two parallel streams of fuel (mainly methane diluted with nitrogen) and air emerging from porous walls.
39.
A simple one-step chemistry model for partially premixed hydrocarbon combustion - Fernández Tarrazo, Eduardo; Sánchez Pérez, Antonio Luis; Liñán Martínez, Amable; Williams, F.A.
Computations of planar premixed flames are used in the selection of the three model parameters: the heat of reaction q, the activation temperature Ta, and the preexponential factor B.
