Traditional Objects Transposition to Contemporaneity - Filipe, Rita Almeida
The work on “Traditional Objects Transposition to Contemporaneity” aims to legitimate, contextualise and describe creative design processes, which are developed from traditional object studies, and their usage, into new and contextualized concepts. I intend to work with traditional culture observing ‘real life’ objects at their original context, and their possible translation and reinsertion in contemporary culture and dailylife experience, from a local to a global context. Hence, I try to rethink traditional local culture in our days, as well as in a global context, in both dimensions. Working with traditional objects and their use, from traditional use into contemporary everyday...
We assist to changes in the way one acquires and updates information on the
professional scope, by using Information and Communication Technology. Regarding
the need of improving the way nurses learn by using technology, in their continuous
training context, we’ve carried out a study that aims to answer the question: does the
use of Internet improves the professional continuous training of the nurses, namely, in
what concerns their self-training?
We have followed the methodology characteristic on the exploratory studies.
The analysis of results allowed us to conclude that the nurses use Internet more often
within their self training’ context for the acquisition and updating of knowledge and for
Investigação em/por design - Costa, Rui Carlos Ferreira Cavadas da
This study about how to investigate in/through design comes with the perception, not new, that academic research disconects itself from the design, disregarding its practice and products and that studio design practive doesn'tlook up nor regards the theoretical production, indoor and abroad, that is going on.
This dissertation aims to close this gap introducing the current debate about forms of doing design research and, for that matter, this study aims to point out some of the most pertinent questions and above all try to establish possible links between those two practices of design: professional studio practice and academic practice. Being so,...
This study presents a research regarding speech intelligibility in churches, using objective and
Two methods were used in the 31 churches:
? Evaluation of the RASTI (Rapid Speech Transmission Index) emitting from three different positions within the churches (altar and pulpit);
? Evaluation of live speech tests (PB tests).
Using statistical analysis it was found
- that RASTI is a useful parameter to evaluate intelligibility in Portuguese and a prediction equation was determined with a R2 of 0.50.
- that 14 architectural parameters can be used to build a prediction equation with R2 = 0.66 for PB tests.
- a prediction equation for the intelligibility regarding...
The present dissertation is about Subject Gateways a kind of Internet access service created to serve the academic community?s information needs, characterized for selecting web resources accordingly with quality criteria, describing information with structured metadata languages and to give access through keywords and particularly browsing structure?s development. These services are analyzed from the point of view of processes and ways of organizing information.
The five initial Gateways (SOSIG, HUMBUL, EEVL, PSIGATE, BIOME) of the RDN (Resource Discovery Network) are specifically analyzed regarding to used metadata languages and ways of organizing information. This analysis aims to know the process of organizing information,...
The importance of the textbook has been quite significant in the teaching/learning process. Throughout time it has been a privileged teaching instrument that has influenced the activities developed in the classroom. Some studies have stated that the school manual is one of the most used instruments by teachers.
The analysis of the contents has been chosen as a research object in the didactics of sciences with different objectives. Accounting for the role of the textbook, its analysis allows us to understand the way in which the electromagnetism and electromagnetic induction were introduced in the high school teaching and it can give...
This study results from the knowledge of the insufficiency in standards and rules used for the identification and description of written musical documents. Enlightened by the new standard development, particularly the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) and recent studies on the concept of a work and bibliographic relationships, it must achieve an equilibrium between the music cataloguing rules normally used on libraries, very generalist, and the rules usually used by musicologists for the description of the same documents, particularly RISM rules, very specific an inaccessible to a less specialized public. Some proposals are made in order to contribute to...
