The article questions the two conclusions attributed to the application of “Wittgenstein’s skeptical paradox” to law, as developed by S. Kripke: that is, either the paradox is applied to the practice of law and it is indeterminate or impossible, or the paradox is completely irrelevant for the practice of law and for philosophical reflection in that respect. The paper suggests that philosophy of right can accept the relevance of the paradox and draw new elements from it.

  2. El Nietzsche de Rafael Gutiérrez-Girardot

    Sánchez Lopera, Alejandro
The article analyzes Rafael Gutiérrez-Girardot’s texts on F. Nietzsche’s reflections regarding tragedy and pessimism, on the basis of three topics: style, nihilism, and aesthetics. It argues that Gutiérrez-Girardot’s interpretation of Nietzsche proves that the former is not merely a literary critic, and that those texts shape the tone and personal style of Gutiérrez Girardot’s writing

The article analyzes the influence of Marx’s thought on the formulation of Habermas’ early theory, starting out from Albrecht Wellmer’s and Jürgen Habermas’ critiques of the Marxian conception of historical materialism. The paper then goes on to examine the reconstruction of some of the postulates of Marxism carried out by Habermas on the basis of a new theory of social evolution. This brings to light some basic assumptions of Marx’s theory that are transformed in Habermas’ conceptualization and constitute the necessary basis to understand the author’s later thought.

    Letelier Widow, Gonzalo
The article analyzes the presence of the notion of “state of nature” in 16th century Spanish theologians and jurists, showing the similarities and differences among four topics that preceded the formation of that concept: the state of original innocence, the consequences of original sin for human nature, the hypothesis regarding a contract that legitimizes political authority, and the theological hypothesis of pure nature. On the basis of this analysis, the paper goes on to propose some criteria to define the state of nature.

  6. Estilos de vida y justicia

    Pereira, Gustavo
Now that the focus of reflection has shifted from ideal theories to the application of social justice, centered on the institutions of democratic societies, it is necessary to pay special attention to lifestyles, since they not only influence the realization of justice, but also have an effect on economic inequality and the availability of natural resources. In our societies, it is possible to place restrictions on lifestyles, especially in those cases in which, influenced by certain social dynamics, they disengage from conceptions of the good. The article argues that, in those cases, the normative base grounding the demand that lifestyles...

Espinoza Lolas, Ricardo A.; Moya Diez, Iván; Vilches Vilches, Daniel

    Giraldo Jaramillo, Francisco
The article examines the scope and limits of Jacques Rancière’s political conception. First, it provides a brief presentation of what the French philosopher understands by “politics” (including the distinction between police and politics, disagreement and subjectivation). Secondly, from a more critical stance, it seeks to evince the scope and limits of this conception of politics as interruption, thus highlighting the advantages and problems of Rancière’s political thought. Finally, by linking these reflections to history and memory, the paper proposes a new conception of politics as interruption that overcomes the aforementioned limits.

  11. Bienestar prudencial en la ética de Epicuro

    Carrasco Meza, Carlos
The paper offers a critical review of a recent interpretation of Epicurean hedonism, according to which the latter could be understood as an attitudinal hedonism. Such reading implies certain internal tensions and neglects the fundamental meaning ofEpicureanism as a theory of prudential well-being. By focusing exclusively on one aspect, that reading omits certain secondary issues, such as the legitimacy of an attitudinal interpretation of a doctrine grounded in atomism.

    Jiménez Castillo, Manuel A.
The International Cooperation for Development system is epistemologically and op-erationally disconnected from the complexity that characterizes its field of action. Its academic tradition has been historically determined by two antithetical reactions. One is to restrict reality to a universalist principle that interprets development in an a priori manner. The other, contrary to the former’s speculative nature, conforms to an extreme empiricism that renders it incapable of formulating a theory about what really works. In both cases, the fetishism of aid ends up being the price paid for the inability to reconcile the two positions. The article demonstrates how an epistemic...

The paper analyzes Karl Heinz Bohrer’s reconstruction of Romantic thought and of its aesthetic conception of subjectivity. It shows how this reconstruction appears in Friedrich Schlegel’s aesthetic reflections, and reviews Bohrer’s critiques of Schlegel’s tendency to reinstate a mythical image of subjective relations. Furthermore, the article examines the way in which the second generation of Romantics overcome this problem; inquires into the extent to which Bohrer’s conception of aesthetic subjectivity might be adequate to understand contemporary artistic production; and, finally, discusses some limitations of Bohrer’s reading of Schlegel’s thought.

  18. El sentimiento de ser

    Ratcliffe, Matthew

The article addresses scientific realism from the perspective of Zubiri, for whom reality is the intrinsic way in which contents are actualized “in” apprehension, on the one hand, and truth is that same reality inasmuch as it is “actualized”, on the other. Since reality is already present in apprehension, it is not an achievement of science, while the postulates of scientific theories can only prove to be erroneous ina process of verification. Insofar as error is possible in the search for truth, the failures of science would support realism, rather than provide evidence of antirealism.
