  1. Arte y lenguaje como formas del ser. Deseo, ritmo y desaparición

Ortega Salgado, Cynthia; Mojica Arias, Juan
We propose three imaginary approaches to expand the difficult relations between art and language. The intention is to set a place for the forms in which art builds reality. Language, commonly assumed from its ontological nuance, could think reality in terms of immanence and grammaticality. But, what would these structures look like from art? This paper poses image as disappearance, as rhythm and as desire in order to explore the language of the minor, of the sensation and of that what goes unsaid

From the concept of “artistic scene”, this article explores the characteristics of cultural projects in the city of La Plata: their modes of management, forms of articulation and aesthetic policies. The analysis focuses on some situations and actors of the visual arts scene to question the emergence and potentiality of ways of producing and managing from alternative local practices, inquiring into their relations with cultural policies. To do this, it uses the observations, mappings and in-depth interviews revealed in the fieldwork. The objective is to contribute to the analysis of contemporary cultural processes

This article is an artistic criticism of different artworks and curatorial proposals to be found in different contemporary art galleries located in M50, the art district of the city of Shanghai, the economic capital of China. Such criticism coincides with these exhibitions in a context as important as spring in China, a time of the year that has played a large role throughout the history of art in that country. By means of this article, the author tries to bring closer some of the artists and artworks currently exhibited to the Latin American community, something that can be sometimes difficult due to the peculiarities...

  5. Ecología en prácticas cotidianas

    Garavito López, Elizabeth
The present article gives an account of a process that starts from the daily practices of the participants and in which the non-verbal narratives generated in these spaces are employed. In this case, through the construction of microuniverses (small stories that are built with plants and objects inside a pot), the potential of these scenarios as “collaborative artistic practices” has been developed with a group of people from the Faculty of Arts ASAB of the Francisco José de Caldas District University in Bogota. This process has been carried out from an ecosystems perspective, entering into dialogue with concepts of relational...

The Colombian context of the last three decades has generated cultural forms and social representations emerged from the crisis and social instability that has characterized the country during this period of time. The following pages aim to contextualize and interpret the phenomenon of drug trafficking at the local level. In parallel, we will define conceptual tools to approach a specific object: the case of the production of aesthetic material identified with a new value scale, product of the culture stemming from drug trafficking. By means of sociological concepts, we will aesthetically analyze the configuration and installation of the new “narco” values through a study of...

  7. Marina Abramovic en “The artist is present” (2010): cuerpo, consciencia y performance como agentes para la crítica cultural

    Gómez Beltrán, Iván
Throughout the text I will study Marina Abramovic’s performance The Artist Is Present (2010) to explore the interrelation between body-space and artist-audience. For this purpose, I will dive in her artistic discourse, especially in her understanding of art as a social agent of transformation in the era of globalization. In this article, on one hand, I will analyze the importance of art as a device for cultural critique and on the other hand, I will explore the relevance of ritualized pain as a mechanism to achieve a state of full consciousness

    Romero, Adriana Roque
In this article I approach the issue of the place of artistic practices in the political juncture of the transition to a post-conflict era in Colombia, in relation to cultural policies. From a philosophical perspective, I approach artistic practices based on Jacques Rancière’s concepts of aesthetic regime, politics and distribution of the sensible. This will allow us to understand the potential of artistic practices in a post-conflict scenario as a source of dissent, of the creation of novel spaces where narratives, wounds and the constitution of community itself come into question. To understand the place of artistic practices, I propose to revise...

The eminent neogranadino scientist Francisco José de Caldas, hero of the independence of Colombia, stands out for his scientific legacy, but a facet of his life has been left aside: the contributions he made to the study, analysis, practice and teaching of architecture in New Granada. In the course of his travels through the Viceroyalty of New Granada, he analyzed the constructions of the different cities he visited, from his extensive knowledge of Palladio and Vignola, as well as of the Baroque style, which was dominant at that time. He also makes descriptions of archaeological monuments of Inca architecture located in the Presidency of Quito. Finally, as...

    Quiroga Garza, Marcela
There is a relationship between the ideas of the artist Joseph Beuys and some contemporary artistic practices and theories, mostly those related to direct action, a certain activism and some cultural development projects. Beuys, inserted in a worldwide movement in the sixties, made a diagnosis of human practices and institutions such as work, art, interpersonal relationships, among others, and proposed a process to restore lost values through the rationalization of thought and its consequences. This process includes what could be the remedy of social unrest, how to execute it and its possible outcome. His most important legacy is constantly forgotten or...

How are the relationships between physical spaces—public, private and borders—and psychological spaces, within the formation and experiences of multiple masculinities, expressed from the stand point of Costa Rican contemporary art? This question is addressed through a detailed analysis of both the photographs and the curatorial assembly of the exhibition “One Thousand and One Men. Three photographers: Timms/Alban/Tischler“, curated by Adriana Collado-Chaves and exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design of Costa Rica (MADC) in 2017. A methodology with an intersectional approach is proposed, which explores how sexualities and gender are played within the various spaces—public, private, psychological, subjective, etc.—and...

  12. La Modernidad estética: una noción para repensar

    Rancière, Jacques
Rethinking aesthetic modernity consists in trying to identify an aspect of time as a way of sharing the sensible, beyond simplistic conceptions of temporality. The aim is to show that there is an essential element that constitutes an aesthetic revolution—the fact that works are no longer constructed, but instead, forms of a sensible life; that there is the idea of a sensitive community liberated from strategic calculations. Thus, the policy inspired by this aesthetic regime is a policy of indetermination, of freedom, which gives rise to the idea of a properly aesthetic policy, of an aesthetic communism in which there is direct communication between the forms...

  13. De la serie El jardín perdido

    Ramone, Hanna
This article showcases one of the photographic series of the artist Hanna Ramone: The Lost Garden. The series builds a reflection on the social problem of feminicide. This phenomenon affects women of all ages and nationalities, going mostly unpunished. The Lost Garden encloses the desire to show an empowerment generated from a community that struggles for equality and the understanding of the body from a political standpoint. There is a vision that reacts and seeks to make visible an ongoing issue that after centuries continues to present a distorted image of the human. The artist builds a framework from the heterogeneity of...

    Rengifo, Sandra; Escobar Neira, Fernando
This text is constructed on diverse conceptual and theoretical approaches to the project The Secret Genius of the Spyglass (Kikkertens Hemmelighedsfulde Aand) of the artist Sandra Rengifo. The perspective of analysis put into work moves away from discourses typical of the history of art and aesthetics, and, on the contrary, puts forward questions closer to fields such as cultural geography, landscape studies and visual studies. The main objective is to describe the relationship and tensions that the artistic project maintains with respect to spatialities, objects, places and landscapes. To this end, notions related to the repetition and fragmentation of both the...

Blasco Magraner, José Salvador; Bueno Camejo, Francisco
