    We have investigated benchmark laser desorption/ionization mass spectroscopy processes assisted by platinum nanoparticles (NALDI-MS). The technique has been applied to the detection of a synthetic polymer (polyethylenglycol PEG600) and a peptide (Angiotensin I). Platinum stands out among the noble metals as a NALDI active substrate because of its low heat conductivity and high melting temperature1.
