Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE) (26.580 recursos)
The Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE) is a grassroots, community-based effort involving teachers, students, and scientists working together to create a library of educational resources and services to support Earth system science education. DLESE supports Earth system science education by providing access to high-quality collections of educational resources; access to Earth data sets and imagery; support services to help educators and learners effectively create, use, and share educational resources; and communication networks to facilitate interactions and collaborations across all dimensions of Earth system education.

1. About COSEE
The COSEE network promotes a better understanding of the key role the ocean plays in global environmental cycles and processes. COSEE activities highlight the contributions ocean-science researchers make to scientific knowledge in these important areas. Each COSEE represents one or more ocean science research institution, an informal science education organization, and at least one affiliate organization representing the formal education community.

2. COSEE Florida NewsFeeds
This site includes a scrolling news feed section containing articles on education, ocean research, Antarctica, and ecology. The articles are mostly found on external websites.

3. COSEE Florida Science News
This site features news articles concerning integrating ocean sciences into the educational curriculum. The articles are either full text or have a brief summary and a link to the full text.

4. COSEE Florida Education News
This site features news articles concerning ocean sciences education and upcoming workshops. Each article includes a brief summary and a link to the full text.

5. COSEE Florida News Center
This site provides access to general marine science and K-12 education news. Article categories on the site include: USF College of Marine Science News, news items from the USF College of Marine Sciences; Marine Science Publications, recent publications by faculty and students of the marine sciences; Latest News From COSEE-Florida; and K-12 News and Events, updated information relating to K12 News and educational events.

6. COSEE Florida's Ocean Connections Newletter
This site features a listing of the current and past issues of the quarterly COSEE-Florida newsletter, Ocean Connections. Each edition is downloadable as an Adobe pdf document.

7. COSEE Florida Council Meeting Recordings
All of COSEE-Florida's virtual council meetings are recorded. To replay you will need to install the Network EducationWare software and the Java Runtime Environment (Windows based PCs only). The software is free.

8. COSEE Florida Communications Area
COSEE-Florida has several different communications systems available for their registered users. You must register to enter this area and registration is free. The communications options include: discussion forums, ask a scientist, online conference rooms, webcasts, and conference and webcast software.

This is a Windows movie file tutorial for the Network EducationWare Conferencing software.

10. COSEE Florida Online Conference Room
This site provides information on accessing COSEE-Florida online conferences. UserID and password are necessary for access.

11. COSEE Florida Ask a Scientist
This site is a posting area for questions of the COSEE-Florida scientist. Registration is required to post a question, but is free of charge.

12. COSEE Florida Download Center
In the links on this page you will find several necessary or useful software packages. The Conference/Webcast software allows you to join one of COSEE-Florida's online conferences. The application sharing software allows you to work with one of COSEE-Florida's application sharing conferences or even run your own. In addition, you can even run your own website without needing a static IP address, with the No-IP service.

13. COSEE Central Gulf of Mexico Message Board
This site includes postings and subscription information to the COSEE-CGOM digital message index.

14. COSEE Florida Webcams
A window to the world, this site features links to several webcams, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Perry Institute of Marine Science in the Bahamas, a Bonaire coral reef, Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

15. COSEE Florida Online School
COSEE-Florida provides several online courses, free of charge, for registered users. The courses use the learning management system, MOODLE. A free tutorial of MOODLE is also offered on this website.

16. COSEE Florida Discussion Forums
COSEE-Florida provides access to many different threads within several discussion forums. The forums include: education, research, policy and activism, the COSEE-Florida website, and general discussion. There is no charge for registration.

17. COSEE Florida Document Center
Access COSEE-Florida documents, including case studies, ocean science information, field guides, K-12 lessons, policy information, and COSEE news. The documents included can be downloaded in pdf or Microsoft Word formats. Each document features a brief summary.

18. COSEE Florida Resource Center
COSEE-Florida's resource area allows you to locate information and data in a number of ways, including browsing and searching. There is also an area that allows certain members to easily upload reference materials to the site for review and posting. This site also allows you to search the Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE) library and provides access to several web search engines.

19. Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence Florida (COSEE-Florida)
COSEE-Florida's center for ocean science integration and outreach in Florida contains a wealth of information including lesson plans, links to many external resources, communications forums, webcasts, online courses, webcams, and more. It also features access to Ocean Connections, COSEE Florida's quarterly newsletter.

20. Undergraduate Internship for Minority Students (PDF)
This opportunity, sponsored by COSEE-CGOM, is for minority students from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The internships offer financial assistance to minority college students and provide the opportunity for conducting hands-on marine education and/or science activities at the J.L. Scott Marine Education Center & Aquarium. This site provides information on the internship program, as well as an application.
