1. Taxonomy and evolutionary significance of some "gnathodus" species (conodonts) from the Mississippian of the northern Iberian Peninsula - Sanz López, Javier; Blanco Ferrera, Silvia; García López, Susana
A new species of Gnathodus, G. joseramoni, is defined and Gnathodus cantabricus Belka & Lehmann is revised from the study of some new conodont associations and analysis of previous data from the Cantabrian Mountains and the Pyrenees, North Iberian Peninsula. G. cantabricus is regarded as a junior synonym of Gnathodus kiensis Pazukhin from the Urals. Other occasional European findings of both taxa are indicated and stratigraphic middle Viséan to Arnsbergian ranges are established. Finally, the phylogenetic relations with other Gnathodus species are also outlined.

2. Early Devonian eurypterids with Bohemian affinities from Catalonia (NE Spain) - Chlupac, Ivo; Ferrer, Enric; Magrans, Josep; Mañé, Ramón; Sanz López, Javier
The sequence of early Lower Devonian (Lochkovian) strata with dominant anchimetamorphic shales of the Olorda Formation yielded numerous remains of eurypterids. These belong to the Family Pterygotidae and are represented by dominant species of Acutiramus (closely related or identical with the Bohemian species Acutiramus bohemicus and A. perneri), and rare finds of Pterygotus cf. barrandei. The eurypterids are typical components of a purely marine assemblage of the offshore, probably open shelf environment of Benthic Assemblage 4 to 5. The clearly expressed Bohemian affinity points to open migration routes along the northern Gondwana shelves between Bohemia and Catalonia during the early...

3. Conodont content and stratigraphy of the Llessui Formation from the south central Pyrenees - Sanz López, Javier; Gil Peña, Inmaculada; Rodríguez Cañero, Rosario
A synthetic stratigraphic succession of the Upper Silurian Llessui Formation is established according to partial sections and conodont sampling. The lower part of the formation is considered Ludlow, while the uppermost P?ídolí conodont O. e. detortus Zone is recognised at the top. Above, the shales, with some limestones of the Aneto Formation, range from the P?ídolí to the middle Lochkovian L. omoalpha-A. trigonicus Zone, where the limestones of the Rueda Formation begin. The carbonate facies of the Llessui Fm are similar to the Ockerkalk facies from the Northern Gondwana. The succession is compared with other Pyrenean sequences and related with...

4. Stratigraphy of lower Cambrian and unconformable lower Carboniferous beds from the Valls unit (Catalonian coastal ranges) - Sanz López, Javier; Melgarejo Draper, Joan Carles; Crimes, Thomas Peter
The Palaeozoic rocks outcropping around Valls are divided into two stratigraphic units. The boundary between both is an unconformity. The lower unit is composed by nearshore platform sediments and a Lower Cambrian age is indicated according to ichnotaxa content. The upper unit consists of pink nodular limestones and dark limestones, and it is followed by siliciclastic Culm Facies rocks. These limestones contain conodonts of the uppermost Tournaisian at its base (anchoralis-latus Zone) and lower Bashkirian (Namurian B) in the upper part. This condensed carbonate sequence was coeval with the thick siliciclastic Culm sedimentation in the surrounding areas.

5. Estratigrafía del Serpukhoviense y el Bashkiriense inferior (Carbonífero) en la provincia de Pliegues y Mantos, Zona Cantábrica - Sanz López, Javier; Blanco Ferrera, Silvia; Sánchez de Posada, Luis Carlos
The lateral relationships among the San Adrián, Canalón and Olaja members of the upper part of the Alba Fm. are discussed. These rocks are considered to be parts of a carbonate ramp developed from latest Viséan or early Pendleian to middle Arnsbergian times. The new name Millaró Beds is proposed herein for a thin interval of marine beds with middle-upper Arnsbergian ammonoids and conodonts, and laterally equivalent to part of the Olaja Mb. The Millaró Beds constitute the upper part of the Alba Fm. providing an additional criterion for the identification of the boundary between the Alba and Barcaliente formations...

7. The mid-carboniferous boundary in northern Spain : difficulties for correlation of the global stratotype section and point - Sanz López, Javier; Blanco Ferrera, Silvia; García López, Susana; Sánchez de Posada, Luis Carlos
