1. Beyond Rome +5 and Johannesburg; Pathway towards achieving Water Security for All and for Ever - Swaminathan, Prof M S
The UN Summit on Sustainable Development held at Johannesburg, South Africa, from 26 August to 4 September 2002, was originally to be held from 2 to 11 September, but the dates were brought forward. 2. Modeling Principles of Substrate and Inhibitor Recognition in Monoamine Transporters - Rosko, Andrew
The function of amino acid metabolites as neurotransmitters in the nervous system is critically dependent on an active reuptake mechanism in the neuronal membrane that limits the duration of neurotransmitter signaling by removing the transmitters from the synaptic cleft. This activity is provided by a family of Na+ and Cl--dependent transporters of the sodium: neurotransmitter symporter family (SNF) . These transporters are the targets of many psychoactive drugs, including antidepressants and attention deficit disorder therapeutics as well as recreationally used psychostimulants such as amphetamines. Recently, a crystal structure of a bacterial homologue of SNF transporters was solved at high resolution,...
