  6. MADFORWATER – WP2: Adaptation of wastewater treatment technologies for agricultural reuse – Task 2.3: Agro-industrial wastewater treatment – Subtask 2.3.1: Treatment of olive mill wastewater – Olive mill wastewater treatment by polyphenol separation and anaerobic digestion

Pinelli, Davide; Frascari, Dario; Bertin, Lorenzo
This dataset reports the data relative to a study of polyuphenol separation from olive mill wastewater. The goals of this study were (i) to compare two anion ion exchange resins (IRA958 Cl and IRA67) and a non-ionic resin (XAD16) in terms of phenolic compounds adsorption capacity from olive mill wastewater, and (ii) to compare the adsorption capacity of the best resin on columns of different length. The ion exchange resins proved less performant than non-ionic XAD16 in terms of resin utilization efficiency (20% versus 43%) and phenolic compounds/COD enrichment factor (1.0 versus 2.5). The addition of volatile fatty acids did...

  7. Arte e scienza internazionale: il “modernismo” fascista negli anni Venti

    Cioli, Monica

  9. Geografie dell'Emilia Romagna nel Novecento

    Marchi, Marzia
The paper look inside the great changes occurred in the geography of Emilia Romagna region, during the Twentieth Century. It is a synthetic profile of different aspects, because most of the changes produced modifications on the landscape, and then on the geographies of the area. Varied sources are used, like documents, data, cartographic and iconographic materials, at the regional scale. The first two chapters deals with the land and infrastructure, whose networks have helped to strengthen the human geography of the region, based on the axis of the Via Emilia. The third chapter presents some indicators on population, its geographical...

  10. SMART-M3 v.0.9: A semantic event processing engine supporting information level interoperability in ambient intelligence

Morandi, Francesco; Vergari, Fabio; D'Elia, Alfredo; Roffia, Luca; Salmon Cinotti, Tullio
This tutorial is addressed to all students in Electronic Engineering and Information Engineering at the Scuola di Ingegneria e Architettura of the University of Bologna attending the following courses: Laboratory of Interoperability of Embedded Systems, "Calcolatori Elettronici M" and "Attività Progettuale di Calcolatori Elettronici M". This tutorial includes the guidelines to build distributed applications where clients may interact with physical space. Inter-client interaction occurs through a semantic event processing engine. Information interoperability is based on a shared knowledge representation model named ontology. This tutorial is focused on client design and on the SPARQL primitives that provide the means for client-event processing...

  11. Spotlighting fantasy literature with the tools of Frame Semantics and Systemic Functional Linguistics: A case study

    Luporini, Antonella
This paper presents a dual approach to the stylistic analysis of literary texts, focusing on fantasy literature, and deploying the tools provided by two arguably complementary theoretical-descriptive models: Frame Semantics (FS; Fillmore 1985; 2006 [1982]; Fillmore and Baker 2010) and the system of TRANSITIVITY as developed within Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL; Halliday and Matthiessen 1999; 2014). The frameworks are applied to the analysis of two excerpts from the fantasy series Harry Potter, respectively relating the first and the last of a long series of battles between the protagonist and the main antagonist, Lord Voldemort. Within each passage, we consider all...

  12. Studio ed analisi comparativa di differenti sistemi scrubber per la rimozione di particolato delle emissioni di una caldaia di piccola taglia alimentata a biomassa

Bianchini, Augusto; Cento, Francesco; Golfera, Luca; Pellegrini, Marco; Saccani, Cesare

  15. Trade Liberalization May Be Harmful under Endogenous Differentiation

    Lambertini, Luca
The consequences of free trade are investigated in an international duopoly under horizontal differentiation and convex transportation costs. It is shown that the smaller country may benefit from trade if it is sufficiently small to allow for a significant volume of exports by the domestic firm. On the contrary, the larger country never benefits from trade, since liberalization decreases the domestic firm’s profit more than it increases consumer surplus.

  16. Unit root inference for non-stationary linear processes driven by infinite variance innovations

Cavaliere, Giuseppe; Georgiev, Iliyan; Taylor, Robert
The contribution of this paper is two-fold. First, we derive the asymptotic null distribution of the familiar augmented Dickey-Fuller [ADF] statistics in the case where the shocks follow a linear process driven by in…nite variance innovations. We show that these distributions are free of serial correlation nuisance parameters but depend on the tail index of the in…nite variance process. These distributions are shown to coincide with the corresponding results for the case where the shocks follow a …nite autoregression, provided the lag length in the ADF regression satis…es the same o(T1=3) rate condition as is required in the …nite variance...

  17. Sieve-based inference for infinite-variance linear processes

Cavaliere, Giuseppe; Georgiev, Iliyan; Taylor, Robert
We extend the available asymptotic theory for autoregressive sieve estimators to cover the case of stationary and invertible linear processes driven by independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) infinite variance (IV) innovations. We show that the ordinary least squares sieve estimates, together with estimates of the impulse responses derived from these, obtained from an autoregression whose order is an increasing function of the sample size, are consistent and exhibit asymptotic properties analogous to those which obtain for a finite-order autoregressive process driven by i.i.d. IV errors. As these limit distributions cannot be directly employed for inference because they either may not exist...

  18. Public subsidies, TFP and efficiency : a tale of complex relationships

Bernini, Cristina; Cerqua, Augusto; Pellegrini, Guido
This paper shows that a suitable decomposition of TFP can be applied to a large sample of subsidized firms for a relevant period of time, allowing an evaluation of the impact of subsidies on either the roles of technical progress and technical efficiency change or scale and allocative efficiency change as determinants of granted firms’ long-term growth. We measure and decompose TFP using a Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA). The impact of capital subsidies on the different components of TFP is captured by a quasi–experimental method (Multiple RDD), exploiting the conditions for a local random experiment created by Law 488/92 (L488),...

  19. Misspecification and Expectations Correction in New Keynesian DSGE Models

    Angelini, Giovanni; Fanelli, Luca
Abstract: This paper focuses on the dynamic misspecification that characterizes the class of small-scale New-Keynesian models and provides a `natural' remedy for the typical difficulties these models have in accounting for the rich contemporaneous and dynamic correlation structure of the data, generally faced with ad hoc shock specifications. We suggest using the `best fitting' statistical model for the data as a device through which it is possible to adapt the econometric specification of the New-Keynesian model. The statistical model may feature an autocorrelation structure that is more involved than the autocorrelation structure implied by the structural model's reduced form solution under rational expectations, and it is treated...

  20. Rapporto sul mercato del lavoro della provincia di Bologna nel 2013 : uscire dal labirinto

    Tassinari, Giorgio
The paper contains the main informations about labour market in the county of Bologna during 2013. T in 2008he Bologna labour market suffers deeply of the effects of the economic crisis started goes through great transformations: from full employment to mass unemployment. Moreover, it witnessed an heavy diffusion of short term jobs and other non standard contracts. The paper shows that this changes are shared with what has happened at regional and national levels.
