  1. Appendix B.1 - Relative sea level

Lorscheid, Thomas; Stocchi, Paolo; Casella, Elisa; Gómez-Pujol, Lluís; Vacchi, Matteo; Mann, Thomas; Rovere, Alessio
Paleo relative sea-level (RSL) indicators formed during the Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 5e have been reported by a large number of studies worldwide. Despite this, three main aspects are seldom reported: (1) use of high-precision survey techniques applied to MIS 5e RSL indicators; (2) application of modern analogs to understand the indicative meaning of MIS 5e RSL indicators; (3) estimates of the effects of glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) on the MIS 5e records. In this study, we show how the three points above have been addressed in a focused study on Last Interglacial outcrops on the island of Mallorca. We...

  2. Water level, areal extent and volume change of Lake Tanganyika, Lake Turkana, Lake Tonle Sap and Lake Constance: Multi-year time series from satellite altimetry and remote sensing

Boergens, Eva; Dettmering, Denise; Schwatke, Christian; Seitz, Florian
This dataset contains time series of the water level, the areal extent and the volume change of the four large lakes Tanganyika, Turkana, Tonle Sap and Constance. For each lake, the time series cover a time-span of many years at a variable temporal resolution between several days and approximately one month: Lake Tanganyika: October 1992 - February 2015 Lake Turkana: October 1992 - September 2017 Lake Tonle Sap: June 2002 - September 2017 Lake Constance: July 2002 - May 2016 The data are based on satellite observations. Lake levels have been estimated from multi-mission satellite altimetry within DGFI-TUM's Database for...

  3. Geophysical and geochemical measurements on gravity cores along a transect down the Tuaheni Landslide Complex, northeastern New Zealand

Kuhlmann, Jannis; Orpin, Alan R; Mountjoy, Joshu J; Crutchley, Gareth J; Henrys, Stuart A; Lunenburg, R; Huhn, Katrin
The southern Tuaheni Landslide Complex (TLC) at the Hikurangi subduction margin displays distinctive morphological features along its distribution over the Tuaheni slope offshore Gisborne, New Zealand. The datasets provide geophysical (MSCL) and geochemical (XRF) core logs from a gravity core transect that systematically samples surficial sediments from the source area to the toe of this landslide complex.

  9. Macrobenthos of the Sudak shelf in 1990

    Mazlumyan, Sofia; Mikhailova, T V
Macrofauna was sampled during 32 cruise of RV Professor Vodyanitsky in 1990 on Sudak shelf (the Black Sea off the coast of south-eastern Crimea) with "OCEAN" Grab 0.25 m-2, at depths from 50 to 110 m. The material was collected on two transects (the eastern and western transect) located perpendicular to the coastline. Stations on the sections were located on isobaths with a gradient of 10 m at depths from 50 to 110 m. The sampled material was washed mesh 1 mm sieve system a preserved in 75% alcohol, which is known to preserve morphological structures without distortion. We avoided...

  10. Annotated record of the detailed examination of Mn deposits from R.R.S. "Discovery" Cruise 33 stations

    Laughton, Anthony S
The American Deep Sea Drilling Project (JOIDES) has agreed to drill several holes into the deep sea sediments at sites in the NE Atlantic suggested by UK and French scientists. These sites have been chosen on the basis of data collected over several years in the areas of Rockall, the Bay of Biscay and King's Trough. On Cruise 33 we undertook to make more detailed seismic reflection surveys of three of these sites in order to guide the choice of the exact hole position and to provide supplementary data. The following three sites were surveyed: Site A in the Hatton-Rockall...

  17. Crop production and irrigation water requirements under climate change 2004-2050

    Nechifor, Victor; Winning, Matthew
Increases in CO2 atmospheric concentrations are expected to lead to multiple and possibly opposing effects over crop performance. The paper uses a global economic model (RESCU-Water) to analyse the impacts of changes in climatic conditions and CO2 fertilisation on crop output and on the pressure over water resources coming from irrigation. RESCU-Water is built on a Computable General Equilibrium Framework and distinguishes between the rainfed and irrigated production of eight crop classes. Irrigation is introduced as a separate production factor using a novel valuation method. The yield and irrigation water intensity effects employed to map climate change incidence are derived...
