  5. The tubercularis species group of Aulacaspis (Sternorrhyncha : Coccoidea : Diaspididae)

    Takagi, Sadao
Eight species of the scale insect genus Aulacaspis are recognized as belonging to the tubercularis species group: A. tubercularis, A. alisianCl, and six new species, A. Geula, A. ra ipingensis, A. alyx;ae, A. sClIrru/ae, A. scaphocalycis, and A. lagl.l17ae, the first of the new species occulTing in Malaysia, Singapore, and the Phi lippines, the last in Luzon, and the other four in Malaya. A. tubercularis and A. aeu/a are represented by abundant material and broadl y variabl e in morphological cha racters, and the species concepts adopted in this study are tentati ve. A. laip iflgel1sis is c losely related to A. (leu/a, and dist inguished from...

  7. A new scale insect genus from Hong Kong : another clue to the Rugaspidiotini-problem (Sternorrhyncha : Coccoidea : Diaspididae)

    Takagi, Sadao; Martin, Jon H.
Nanhaiospis chiuillngensis, n. gen. and n. sp., is described on the basis of material collec ted on an undetermined bamboo in the Chiulung [Kowloon] Pen insula, opposite Hong Kong Island. Rugaspidiotlls communis Hu, 1987, which occurs on reed in Hainan Island, is transferred to the new genus (Nanhaiaspis communis, 11. comb.) on the supposition thaL it should be characterized nearly the same as N. ci1iulungensis, in contradi ction to the original description. Referable to the Diaspidini but not to the Rugaspidiotini, Nanhaiaspis ean be an incipient rugaspidiotine in having much reduced pygidial appendages and

    Yoshizawa, Kazunori
Japanese species of the barklouse subfamily Amphigerontiinae (Psocidae) were systematically revised. Seven species belonging to fi ve genera we re recogni zed, includ ing the following new taxa: Glossoblaste n. ge n. , Glossoblasfe amamiensis n. sp., and Neopsocopsis sakishimensis n. sp. The genus MelOgeroniia Li, 2002 was recogn ized as a new junior synonym of AllomaloblaSle Endang, Thol11ton & New, 2002, and the genus Penlablaste Li , 2002 was recognized as a new junior synonym of Neopsocopsis Badonnel. 1936. Anomaloblasle Iribulosa (Li, 2002) n. comb., Neopsocopsis longiplera Vis hnyakova, 1986, and Amphigeronlia conramillota (S tephens, 1836) were newly recorded from Japan.
