Up to three variations have been recovered of this kind at our site. However, a fourth variant has been made known to us, which we have considered appropriate to study within this typology -although it is not present in Cercadilla- originating from the Municipal Historic Museum of Villa del Río (Córdoba, Spain).

The Greek oriental monetary finds recorded in the Helenistic age are rather scarce all over the Iberian Peninsula. This essay analises two numismatic examples from this time found in Cordoba. The pieces that we present have to be understood, not in a monetary sense, but a symbolic tokens of the refine tasted that the local elites professed. Even thought the building was found very leveled, tej informationm we have regarding its configuration allows us to interprete it as a palace triclinium. From a formal view point, the building is very closely related -above all- with the Triclinium of Piazza Armerina.

  8. Importaciones e imitaciones de cerámica romana en el yacimiento de Cercadilla (Córdoba) Siglos I al III D.C.

    Moreno-Almenara, Maudilio
We introduce in this paper a set of roman pottery from the archaeological excavations undertake at Cercadilla's during 1991 and 1992. The cronology of these materials covers the 1st and 3rd centuries A.D., being earlier than Maximiano Herculeo's palace. The local imitations of imported pottery are an important phenomenon at Cercadilla, so we have preferred in this paper to analyse only the imports of kitchen and red slipware and their imitations.

This article is a study of the discovery and history of a roman mosaic found in Alcolea del Río (Sevilla), whose fragments are preserved in the Hispanic Society of America. The study of the composition shows us relations with other roman mosaics. However, the most direct paralell is a pavement found in Mytilene (Lesbos), which I proposed a hypothesis of reconstruction.

  10. Sobre una particular iconografía del triunfo de Baco en dos mosaicos romanos de la Bética

    López Monteagudo, Guadalupe
Among the scenes of Dionysus riding in triumph in his leopard-drawn chariot, two iconographic variations are offered on two roman-spanish mosaic pavements from the Betica: the frontal scheme and the chariot drawn by centaurs. The analysis of the cióse parallels shows the contamination between the dionysiac Triumph and the Triumph of Neptune and the connection with the ideas of good fortune and immortality.
