X12 - ARIMA AND TRAMO/SEATS: A COMPARISON USING THE BRAZILIAN QUARTE NATIONAL ACCOUNTS SERIES AND SIMULATED DATA - SHEILA CRISTINA ZANI The compared methodologies are X12-ARIMA and TRAMO/SEATS.This current work encompasses the Brazilian Quarterly aggregated accounts which were obtained from the Brazilian Governmental Statistical Office (IBGE Instituto Brasileirode Geografia e Estatística) in the period between the first quarter of 1991 and the second quarter of 2000.

STUDY OF PARAFFIN DEPOSITION IN PIPES - DANIEL IRIGON DE IRIGON This work studies the flow of an oil-paraffin mixture through a tube, simulating the conditions of petroleum extraction in deep waters.An apparatus was built allowing for pressure and temperature control at the inlet of the test section.
7. BELLIGERENT BRAZIL. A SYSTEMIC VISION OF THE PROCESS OF BRAZILIAN INVOLVEMENT IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR - VAGNER CAMILO ALVES How the international system, in process and completely plunged in a total and global war, acted on the international actors, and how those constraints were the primary causefor the understanding of the involvement and behavior of the peripherical actors of the international system during the war.

REAL OPTIONS AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR ADAPTIVE PLANNING: THE EMBRAER CASE - ANDREA PEIXOTO SALLES This thesis intends to point out that the Adaptive Planning represents an answer for management problems associated toturbulent environments, and the Real Options Theory is a significant managerial instrument to increase the efficiency of strategic decisions.

A CRYSTAL WALL HOUSE: PSYCHOANALYTIC CLINIC AT HOSPITALS - NADJA NARA BARBOSA PINHEIRO It is the authors hypothesis that the close interpenetration between the public and the private spheres is reflected in such practice and determinant asfar as the difficulties and obstacles are concerned.The relationships between the public and the private spheres from the Greek antiquity, to the present time are analyzed pointing out the correspondence between theincrease of privacy and the birth of the psychoanalytical private clinic.

THE HUMANITARIAN INTERVENTION IN THREE AFRICAN QUASI-STATES: SOMALIA, RWANDA AND LIBERIA - ALEXANDRE DOS SANTOS SILVA The aim of this work is to describe the humanitarian interventions in Somalia, Rwanda and Liberia from the understandings of each country as quase- State and this condition as one of the major causes for the collapse of each states institutions.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SOCIAL RIGHTS IN BRAZIL - LARA MOURA FRANCO This work intends to analyse the effectiveness of social rights in Brazil, under both points of view, the juridical-objective and the juridicalsubjective ones, emphasizing, about the last one, the existence of a subjective right and the juridical means set forth by the 1988 Constitutionto accomplish the duties of State which this constitution comprehends.
