ORBi Open Repository and Bibliography (301.662 recursos)

In may 2007, the ULg's Administrative Board (joined in June 2007 by the FUSAGx) decided to create an institutional repository and defined a strong institutional self-archiving policy to increase the visibility, accessibility and impact of the University's publications (Board's decision). This decision led to the official launch, in November 2008, of the ORBi platform including both the Academic Bibliography and the Institutional Repository of the Wallonia-Europe University Academy.

  3. Horizontal integration under yardstick competition

    Teusch, Jonas
Horizontal integration through mergers and cross-ownership is ubiquitous; industries regulated by yardstick competition are no exception in this regard. However, even though yardstick competition is applied to sectors of vital economic importance, such as energy and water networks, the welfare effects of horizontal integration in these settings have largely escaped scientific scrutiny. The dissertation therefore studies the welfare implications of horizontal integration under yardstick competition and identifies potential trade-offs. Specifically, whereas mergers and cross-ownership may bring about efficiency gains, there is a possibility that horizontal integration simultaneously decreases the effectiveness of regulation, benefiting certain firms at the expense of consumers...

  9. More than Just Words. How the Communication Style Adopted by Brands Affect their Relationships with Consumers

    Grétry, Anaïs
The overall aim of this dissertation has been to examine how specific aspects of brand communication style affect the ways in which relationships between brands and consumers form and evolve. A central research question has guided this dissertation: How, when, and why does the style of communication employed by a brand affect consumer–brand relationships? I have addressed this question with three sets of empirical investigations. In the first project, I investigated how adopting an informal (vs. formal) communication style affects brand trust and demonstrated that using an informal style either have a positive or negative effect on brand trust, depending...

O'Carroll, Connor; Rentier, Bernard; Cabello Valdès, Cecilia; Esposito, Fulvio; Kaunismaa, Eva; Maas, Katrien; Metcalfe, Janet; Vandevelde, Karen
Changing practices from the traditional approach in most disciplines will require a fundamental change in the way scientisits carry out research in an Open Science Environment. In order for this to be encouraged and incentivised, this change apprroach must be recognised and rewarded by both employers (when recruiting and promoting researchers) and research funders (when performing peer review of researchers in grant applications). Moreover, senior researchers must play a key role in this change as they are highly influential in the recruitment/promotion of researchers and conduct peer review both for funding agencies and publishers. The report rpovides background information on...

Sabiri, Asmaa; Riane, Fouad; Limbourg, Sabine
Emerging megacities are still abounded with traditional distribution channels. These retail formats need to be visited and supplied very frequently, which turns to be costly and time consuming. In this paper, we address an optimization problem for supplying nanostores (or high frequency stores), while combining districting problem and an altered traveling salesman problem. We present a reallife case study where a company tries to build an effective strategy to cover and supply its nanostores’ network. The problem of concern is modeled as an assignment problem, combined with side constraints regarding disruption of pre-assignments and profit potential balance. The results show...

  20. A repeat-sales index for pricing US corporate bonds

    Beaupain, Renaud; Heck, Stéphanie
In this paper we use a repeat-sales index methodology to construct US corporate bond price indices. Using several performance tests, we show that this methodology provides superior index estimates. In particular when assets trade at infrequent and irregular intervals the repeat-sales index is superior to taking an arithmetic price average. The methodology can readily be applied to any sub-sample of bonds based on a particular characteristic, such as the rating or the maturity. We further study the sensitivity of individual bond returns to systematic market risk as measured by a repeat-sales price index. Results indicate that variations in the price...
