  3. Study of the scattered x-ray distributions around a mammography unit

    Purpose: To measure the distribution of scattered radiation in a mammography unit for shielding design purposes. Methods and Materials: Measurements were carried out with an anthropomorphic phantom used to simulate a body from one adult patient. The dose rate for scattered radiation was recorded by placing a solid state sensor (Unfors Xi Survey Detector) every 10 degrees at 1 m distance from the FOV centre, in the axial and coronal planes of the breast.   5. Effect of informed consent for administration of intravenous contrast material in the anxiety level of patients submitted to computed tomography exams

    Purpose: Evaluation and relation of the state and trait anxiety level in patients before the delivery of informed consent with patients after that, and the evaluation of eventual relations between psychometric tests and sociodemographic characteristics.     Purpose: To obtain and analyse patient´s knowledge and perceptions regarding radiation exposure, from both natural and man-made radiation of medical procedures and interventions. Verify if patients worry about their exposure when undergoing medical exams, are aware of associated risks and means of radiological protection and if their knowledge on medical radiation exposure affects their own decisions.     Acoustic networks are for underwater what wifi is for terrestrial networks. The ocean is a nearly perfect media for acoustic waves in which regards long range propagation but poses a number of challenges in terms of available bandwidth, Doppler spread and channel fading. These limitations originate in the physical properties of the ocean, namely its anisotropy and boundary interaction which are particularly relevant in coastal waters where acoustic propagation becomes predominantly de- pendent on seafloor and sea surface properties.     O azeite virgem é o sumo resultante da azeitona (fruto da Oliveira, Olea Europea L.) que conserva o sabor, aroma e todas as propriedades do fruto do qual tem origem, pelo que, possui características organolépticas particulares, colocando-o num lugar cimeiro entre as gorduras (Cenzano et al., 1988; March, 1994). É, além disso, a única gordura vegetal que pode ser consumida directamente, virgem e crua (Gonçalves Ferreira, 1994; March, 1994). O seu valor calórico é de 9 Kcal/g, a mesma proporção de qualquer outra gordura, animal ou vegetal (Gonçalves Ferreira, 1994; Peres, 1994).
