Understanding the patterns of occurrence of the ectoparasite Amyloodinium ocellatum and the conditions that result in its maintenance at non-dangerous levels for gilthead seabream Sparus aurata could be very useful, since outbreaks of heavy infestation by this parasitic dinoflagellate can cause severe mortality in temperate aquaculture. The macrobenthic production of an estuarine system was evaluated over a 14-year study period in a seagrass bed and in a sandflat. Over this period, the estuary suffered severe eutrophication and extreme weather events with important impacts on the community, impairing system functioning and ultimately the goods and services provided by the estuary (decline in the seagrass bed, decreased community production and/or a boost in the production by opportunist species, such as Hydrobia ulvae). Quantitative analysis of Early Jurassic calcareous nannofossil assemblages from the Peniche section in
Portugal have been performed in order to interpret palaeoenvironmental changes occurring in the Lusitanian
Basin during the Late Pliensbachian Davoei, Margaritatus and Spinatum Ammonite Zones. Nannofossil data
are compared to already published carbon and oxygen stable isotope data, organic matter content (wt.%Total
Organic Carbon, TOC), and biomarker analysis. A signi!cant change in calcareous nannofossil assemblages
and species diversity at the transition between the Margaritatus and Spinatum Ammonite Zones matches
with the pattern shown by geochemical data. This suggests that a profound change in environmental
