Two-photon optical absorption in PbO-SiO2 glasses - Tanaka, K.; Yamada, N.; Oto, M.; ??, ??
One- and two-photon absorption spectra in PbO-SiO2 glasses have been studied comparatively as a function of the PbO content.

Two-photon absorption spectroscopy of As2S3 glass - Tanaka, Keiji; ??, ??
Spectral dependence of two-photon absorption in a chalcogenide glass, As2S3, has been studied using a tunable light source.

Mechanism of photoinduced anisotropy in chalcogenide glasses - Tanaka, K.; Ishida, K.; Yoshida, N.; ??, ??
Photoinduced birefringence in As2S3 becomes maximal at some temperature, which is higher for illumination with a lower photon energy.
25.
Amorphous Ge under pressure - Tanaka, Keiji; ??, ??
Pressure effects in sputtered a-Ge and a-Ge:H films have been investigated at room temperature up to 100 kbar.

Chemical and medium-range orders in As2S3 glass - Tanaka, Keiji; ??, ??
Raman scattering spectra show that the medium-range order decreases in the specimens rapidly quenched from temperatures higher than the glass-transition temperature, and that in the samples quenched from the vapor phase the homopolar-bond density is substantially increased.

Electron dynamics in chromium probed with 20-fs optical pulses - Hirori, H.; Tachizaki, T.; Matsuda, O.; Wright, O. B.; ???, ???? ?????
Electron excitation and relaxation in chromium are probed with 20-fs time resolution using an ultrafast
optical technique.

Direct access to the dispersion relations of multiple anisotropic surface acoustic modes by Fourier image analysis - Sugawara, Y.; Wright, O. B.; Matsuda, O.; ???, ???? ?????
We present a method based on a combination of temporal and spatial Fourier image analysis,
involving the incorporation of a time-reversed acoustic propagation component, that can be used to
obtain the angular dispersion or general dispersion relations of multiple surface acoustic modes
excited by a localized pulsed source.

Watching Ripples on Crystals - Sugawara, Y.; Wright, O. B.; Matsuda, O.; Takigahira, M.; Tanaka, Y.; Tamura, S.; Gusev2, V. E.; ???, ???? ?????
We present a new method for imaging surface phonon focusing and dispersion at frequencies up to
1 GHz that makes use of ultrafast optical excitation and detection.

Isotope scattering of phonons in superlattices - Tamura, Shin-ichiro; ??, ???
The elastic scattering rate of acoustic phonons in periodic superlattices due to isotopic atoms is calculated in the isotropic, continuum approximation.
33.
Effects of liquid loading on surface acoustic waves in solids - Tamura, S.; Vines, R. E.; Wolfe, J. P.; ??, ???
We study the effect of liquid loading on the characteristics of surface acoustic waves propagating along the (100) surface of silicon.
35.
Lattice dynamics and elastic phonon scattering in silicon - Tamura, S.; Shields, J. A.; Wolfe, J. P.; ??, ???
We have examined the propagation of acoustic phonons in silicon on the basis of two lattice-dynamics models: a bond-charge model and an effective-force-constant model consisting of only short-range forces.
37.
Acoustic interference in random superlattices - Tamura, Shin-ichiro; Nori, Franco; ??, ???
We study theoretically the interference effects and the resulting transmission of acoustic phonons in random superlattices, i.e., multilayered systems in which two kinds of building blocks A and B are stacked at random.

Correlations in phonon-transmission spectra in periodic and quasiperiodic superlattices - Tamura, S.; Watanabe, T.; ??, ???
We study the origin of correlations in phonon-transmission spectra in Fibonacci and periodic superlattices (SL’s), which have recently been recognized by numerical calculations and then confirmed by phonon-imaging experiments.
