  1. Description of Kimunpsocus takumai n. gen. & n. sp. from Hokkaido, Japan (Psocodea: 'Psocoptera': Psocidae: Ptyctini)

    Yoshizawa, Kazunori; Yoshizawa, Kazunori
A new genus and species of the tribe Ptyctini, Kimunpsocus takumai, was described based on the specimens collected in Hokkaido, Japan. Morphologically, Kimunpsocus is apparently a member of the tribe Ptyctini and is similar to Loensia in the forewing markings and venation. However, independence of this new genus was supported morphologically and molecularly.

  2. A new form of the tribe Odonaspidini from Palawan Island, representing a unique adaptive type (Sternorrhyncha: Coccoidea: Diaspididae)

    Takagi, Sadao; Takagi, Sadao
Batarasa lumampao, gen. et sp. nov., is described from the Batarasa District, Palawan Island, the Philippines. It occurs on the bamboo Schizostachyum lumampao, and exclusively on the node, where branches grow out. It is referable to the tribe Odonaspidini, but quite extraordinary for a member of the tribe: adult females live in a crowded colony, standing on the head; no test of distinct shape is formed; the pygidium is exposed and peculiar in structure, and is supposed to serve as a protective shield. Batarasa represents a unique adaptive type in association with the habitat, and thus it has established its...

  3. Notes on scale insects of Aulacaspis associated with mangroves and cycads (Sternorrhyncha: Coccoidea: Diaspididae)

Takagi, Sadao; De Faveri, Stefano; Takagi, Sadao; De Faveri, Stefano
Six species of the scale insect genus Aulacaspis are dealt with, five of them occurring on mangroves and one on cycads, unusual host plants for members of the genus. A. australis is revised on the basis of specimens collected on Bruguiera at Cairns, Australia, and its close relationship with the Papuan A. martini is discussed. A. crawii is newly recorded from Xylocarpus in Malaya. A. tubercularis is recorded from Rhizophora, Bruguiera, and Xylocarpus for the first time, and from Malaya, Borneo, and Palawan, and its variation in the shape of the median trullae is shown to be remarkable in specimens...

  4. The identity of Pollenoides kuyanianus Matsumura, 1916 (Diptera: Calliphoridae: Bengaliinae)

    Rognes, Knut; Rognes, Knut
Pollenoides kuyanianus Matsumura, 1916, described from Taiwan, is established as a junior synonym of Bengalia fuscipennis Bezzi, 1913, syn. nov. Pollenoides Matsumura, 1916 is established as a junior synonym of Bengalia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, syn. nov. Of the three original spellings of the specific name kuyanianus is chosen as the correct original spelling by first reviser action. Lectotypes are designated for Bengalia fuscipennis and Pollenoides kuyanianus. Bengalia fuscipennis is known from Taiwan and Guangdong province of China.
