  1. SUPRA-GENERIC SUBDIVISlONS OF THE SUBFAMILY ATTICINAE BASED ON LARVAL CHARACTERS, WITH DESCRIPTIONS OF LARVAE OF HISPANIOLAN SPECIES (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE)

    Larvae of Algoasa cincutus, Disonycha comma, D. eximia, D. spilotrachela, Lysathia occidentalis, Macrochaltica jamaicensis, Omophoita aequinoctialis and Megistops liturata were described from the Hispaniola Is., West Indies. These Neotropical larvae were successfully incorporated into the author's preliminary groupings of Alticine genera, which was proposed mainly on the basis of Palearctic species. This result stresses particularly the importance of both the larval morphology and biology in discussing the phylogenetic relationships in the subfamily. This system based on larvae may give a good reference for supra-generic classification in the subfamily, where no satisfactory tribe-system based on adults is present.

  2. A REVISION OF THE GENUS PSYLLIODES LATREILLE IN JAPAN (CHRYSOMELIDAE: ALTICINAE)

    Eight species of the genus Psylliodes Latreille in Japan are keyed, and their habitus and male aedeagus are figured. Psylliodes (Semicnema) reitteri parallela Weise is recorded from Japan for the first time.

  3. FURTHER MATERIAL OF CAMERONASPIS, WITH OTHER FORMS (HOMOPTERA : COCCOIlDEA : DIASPIDIDAE)

    Two new species of Cameronaspis, C. dilleniae occurring on Dillenia sp. and C. ilicis on Ilex revoluta, are described from high altitudes on Mt. Kinabalu, Sabah (Borneo Is.), Malaysia, and C. adinandrae is recorded from Sabah and Nepal and from Adinandra sp., Vernonia arborea, and Eurya acuminata. The known species of Cameronaspis are revised, and their status as species is discussed. Two new genera are proposed, based on two new species: Kuchingaspis hopeae occurring on Hopea sp. at Kuching, Sarawak (Borneo Is.), and Larutaspis lithocarpi associated with Lithocarpus wallichianus on Bukit Larut, Malaya.   4. MATERIAL OF DIPTEROCARP-ASSOCIATED GALL-INlIABITING COCCOIDS COLLECTED IN NEGERI SEMBILAN, MALAYA (HOMOPTERA: COCCOIDEA)

    Four species of dipterocarp-associated gall-inhabiting coccoids were collected in Negeri Sembilan, Malaya, Malaysla, in 2003 and 2004 in surveys conducted under a project on biodiversity in tropical forests, and taxonomic accounts of them are given in this paper.One of them, Gallacoccus longisetosus, sp. nov., is described on the basis of two female and three male instars.This species is probably rightly referred to Gallacoccus, and yet peculiar among the known species of the genus in having spinous but remarkably elongated setae dorsally on the first-instar female.   5. A PRELIMINARY REVISION OF THE SUBGENUS NETELIA OF THE GENUS NETELIA FROM JAPAN (HYMENOPTERA, ICHNEUMONIDAE, TRYPHONINAE)

    Japanese species of the genus Netelia the subgenus Netelia are revised by mainly re-examining the specimens, which were used by previous authors and preserved in Systematic Entomology, Hokkaido University, to confirm the species records from Japan. New species found among those specimens are described and unrecorded species from Japan found not only in the collection of Hokkaido University but also in the major ichneumonid collections in Japan are recorded. Twenty-five species are recognized. Seven new species, N. (N.) amamiensis, N. (N.) gotoi, N. (N.) kusigematii, N. (N.) kyushuensis, N. (N.) nigritarsalis, N. (N.) nomurai and N. (N.) oharai, are described....

  6. MORPHOLOGY OF PSOCOMORPHA (PSOCODEA: 'PSOCOPTERA')

    Adult integumental morphology of the suborder Psocomorpha (Psocodea: 'Psocoptera') was examined, and homologies and transformation series of characters throughout the suborder and Psocoptera were discussed. These examinations formed the basis of the recent morphology-based cladistic analysis of the Psocomorpha (Yoshizawa, 2002, Zool. J. Linn. Soc. 136: 371–400).
