  1. Sea surface temperature anomalies in the North Atlantic, 30-40ka, from the proxy surrogate reconstruction method

    Here we establish a spatio-temporal evolution of the sea-surface temperature anomalies in the North Atlantic over Dansgaard Oeschger (DO) events 5-8 (30-40ka) using the proxy surrogate reconstruction method. We combine fully coupled, general circulation model simulations with planktic foraminifera based sea-surface temperature reconstructions to obtain a broader spatial picture of the ocean state during DO-events 5-8. Proxy data suggest a large variability in North Atlantic sea-surface temperatures during the DO-events of the last glacial period.   3. Bottom temperature from the southern Weddell Sea measured using an autonomous LoTUS buoy

    A LoTUS buoys (https://www.ave.kth.se/se/avd/naval/cute/projects/bottom-lander-for-long-term-underwater-sensing-lotus-1.560613) recording temperature at about 1 meter above bottom was deployed in February 2017 on the continental shelf east of the Filchner Depression in the Southern Weddell Sea. The autonomous buoys surfaced in February one year later, providing a year-long temperature record from the deployment site.

    The GS15-198-36CC sediment core, retrieved from the northern bank of the Greenland-Iceland Ridge, exhibits a 30-year temporal resolution during the Dansgaard-Oeschger events 8-5 (40-30 ka). Multiple proxy records were measured for this time period: magnetic susceptibility, oxygen and carbon isotopes for N. pachyderma and C. neoteretis, absolute abundance of benthic species C. neoteretis, and Mg/Ca ratio of benthic species C. neoteretis. The age model for GS15-198-46CC relies on the published age model established for core PS2644-5 by using magnetic susceptibility tie points (https://doi.org/10.1594/PANGAEA.846287).
