This is an extensive repository containing material relating to the American experience, a large portion of it digitised from the Library of Congress' collections. It includes, but is not limited to, images, monographs, sheet music, sound and visual recordings, pamphlets and posters. It is subdivided into over 100 thematic collections based on original documentation format, subject, author or donor. The site also benefits from an extensive range of background documentation and information on the creation, maintenance and development of this repository. Individual sections of the collection are periodically highlighted, and materials advising on the use of this repository's contents in a classroom situation are also provided. Each major subsection has a discrete site design and interface, although they are all part of the overarching whole.

A fictionalized story of "Warner's fashionable rust-proof corsets, guaranteed not to rust, break or tear." On the way to bed, a little girl spies her mother's corset and tries it on in front of a mirror. Her younger brother tries to grab it from her, and the two wrestle over the corset as they move into the bathroom. Still fighting for the corset, the children drop it into the bathtub, then begin splashing it in the water. Hearing the noise, the mother goes upstairs and discovers the children playing with the soaked corset. To their surprise, mother reassures them that...

Shows scenes of Calvin Coolidge at his summer home in Plymouth, Vermont, including Coolidge helping out on the neighboring farm of cousin Ed Blanchard; in the "summer White House" above the Plymouth post office; attending church with his father John Calvin, wife Grace Goodhue, and son John; and visiting with his future vice-president, General Charles Dawes. May be a compilation of newsreel footage taken by Pathé in August 1924.

After completing the likeness the artist rapidly draws on the paper a clever sketch of a bottle of wine and a goblet, and then, to the surprise of all, actually removes them from the paper on which they were drawn and pours actual wine out of the bottle into a real glass. The set is of the interior of a bakery. A man in a baker's hat and costume enters and begins kneading some dough on a table by the oven. Uses puppet animation to tell a story of prehistoric times. Three suitors, named the Duke, Stonejaw Steve, and Theophilus Ivoryhead, compete for the hand of Miss Araminta Rockface. Ivoryhead, an unassuming weakling, wins her hand when the others mistakenly believe that he has killed a large ape which was actually felled by a dinosaur.
