Library of Congress Open Archive Initiative Repository 1 (114,502 recursos)
This is an extensive repository containing material relating to the American experience, a large portion of it digitised from the Library of Congress' collections. It includes, but is not limited to, images, monographs, sheet music, sound and visual recordings, pamphlets and posters. It is subdivided into over 100 thematic collections based on original documentation format, subject, author or donor. The site also benefits from an extensive range of background documentation and information on the creation, maintenance and development of this repository. Individual sections of the collection are periodically highlighted, and materials advising on the use of this repository's contents in a classroom situation are also provided. Each major subsection has a discrete site design and interface, although they are all part of the overarching whole.

37. [Nine year old Mollie Keller and her two sisters, 10 and 13 yrs old, pulling beets. The overalls are used by many girls and women. They said they begin sometimes at 5 A.M., usually about 6 or 7, -and work until 6 P.M. with an hour off at noon. An 8 yr old sister works some. These 4 children, with the father and mother, work a large plot of beets on contract for W.E. Damm, near Sterling Colo. 40. Conrad Helmut's two girls, 6 and 8 yrs. old, pulling beets, near Sterling, Colo. The ground was hard and the little ones tugged away at the beets steadily. There are three smaller children left alone in the shack at the far end of the field. Father said he will clear about $200 this season, -two parents and these two children.
