  1. VISTAS DE LA CIUDAD

Bigas, Montserrat; Bravo, Lluís; Contepomi, Gustavo
[EN] The city as the architectural setting where life takes place has frequently been a subject for painters and draughtsmen. While it has also been addressed by other media - such as film, video and photography - which, with technology, have significantly increased their communicative possibilities, drawing and painting remain the ones best capable of supporting the artists¿ requirements: It is chiefly with drawing and painting that artists are able to revive the moving and initiating experience of the discovering of a great city. Through analyzing the work of a few graphic artists we will understand how drawing and painting...

  2. TERRITORIO Y CARTOGRAFÍA. PAISAJES E INTERPRETACIONES. IMÁGENES GRÁFICAS, CARTOGRÁFICAS Y LITERARIAS: EL CASO DE CÁDIZ

    Chías Navarro, Pilar
[EN] The studies on the construction of territory and landscape are closely related to the tangible and the intangible or `living¿ Cultural Heritage. Through all of them the geographical area turns into a Cultural Heritage itself, composed by an ensemble of phenomena and processes, of landmarks and relationships, that configure its real memory. According to the motto `knowing¿analyzing¿acting¿, these studies are essential and previous to achieve any intended work at every scale. In this process the set composed by cartography, photographs and drawings, views and paintings, plays an essential role together with oral and written testimonies. The Bay of Cadiz...

  3. RUPTURA Y RENOVACIÓN: EL OBJETO ARQUITECTÓNICO EN LA METRÓPOLI

    Giménez Ribera, Manuel
[EN] Nowadays, architecture is searching for new approaches, a renewal of intentions in the pursuit of evolution, exactly as was happening at the beginning of the last century. Just like before, modernity cannot be achieved simply by stating that tastes have changed. Merely formal architecture does not imply the paradigm of modernity. Two buildings by Luis Albert, immersed in the city of Valencia, allow us to perform a graphic analysis of their development, completed after rationalising the initial formal intentions. It is impossible for architecture to exist without taking into account the context of its surroundings.

  5. PENSAMIENTO DIVERGENTE Y CREACIÓN GRÁFICA ARQUITECTÓNICA. MOTIVACIÓN, ACTUACIÓN Y DESARROLLO

García Córdoba, Miguel; Ródenas López, Manuel A.; Muñoz Mora, Mª José; Jiménez Vicario, Pedro M.
[EN] Creative thinking is an essential element in the architectural field. Social factors and especially the conditions derived from the educational process, lull and conceal a power that, in spite of this, remains waiting to be activated. There are specific methodologies which allow its reactivation, supported on a suitable motivation, but especially on a strategy with a planned and structured action. The Analysis of Forms or Graphic Creation is the suitable context for the application of these strategies and methodologies that allow the awakening of the creative capacity.

  6. NOTICIAS SOBRE EL MANUSCRITO ANÓNIMO "ARTES EXCELENÇIAS DE LA PERSPECTIBA": BREVE CRÓNICA DE UNA PUBLICACIÓN

    Gentil Baldrich, José María
[EN] Recently, an edition of a manuscript on perspective has been published. It is both a curious and unexplained work, which provides new elements for the knowledge of our scientific and artistic history. But if such a publication always means a remarkable event and, consequently, a reason for scholars to rejoice, it is even more due to the fact that both its edition and final study could be connected, to a great extent, with the Architectural Graphic Expression. Something that increases its value is the fact that the manuscript has been, long since, swirling around specialized publications, sometimes without presenting...

  7. MODELOS CON NIVEL DE DETALLE VARIABLE REALIZADOS MEDIANTE UN LEVANTAMIENTO DIGITAL APLICADOS A LA ARQUEOLOGÍA

    Fantini, Filippo
[EN] This paper focuses on the use of information technologies in the field of archaeological representation. It is part of a series of studies on the VillaAdriana in Tivoli which have led us to investigate the decoration of the Maritime Theatre (Emperor Hadrian¿s personal residence) and other famous archaeological structures located within this UNESCO World Heritage listed site. The richness of detail that characterise the curved entablature pieces of this landmark building stimulated our research team 1 to develop new methods of representation, allowing the interactive assembling of digital models of a high geometric detail obtained by means of laser...

[EN] This article discusses some fundamental issues of pedagogy based on the creative use of hands: how to promote and enhance the basic creative skills, the heuristic, transformative and innovative ability of those members whose start to study architecture. We observe the hands as vital organs of perception, communication and transformation of cognitive and artificial environment. We analyze and compare in the learning of architectural designing and modeling, the manual and digital processes. We study the relationship that the drawing maintains with the body and its emotional states checking the conditions in which the body becomes the generator of architectural...

  10. LA PERSPECTIVA COMO FORMA SIMBÓLICA, UNA VEZ MÁS. Elementos para una revalorización de la perspectiva y la visualidad en Arquitectura

    Alcayde Egea, Rafael
[EN] Although Panofsky¿s arguments have come under criticism for quite some time, they still seem to play a key role in the current disregard to perspective in architectural education. However, it is not clear that the essay expresses a negative conclusion about perspective. Furthermore, abstraction certainly implied the denial of perspective in Painting but, according to the opinion of the most celebrated masters of Modern Movement, not in Architecture.

  11. LA LUZ DIBUJADA EN BIZANCIO

    Vallespín Muniesa, Aurelio
[EN] In Byzantine Art, the light, image and symbol of the divine, condenses a long heritage of diverse religious and philosophical influences. Thus, following the Neoplatonic tradition, byzantine temples were considered authentic sources of Light, paths that led to the divinity. In order to achieve that, musive artisans developed and perfected their techniques to obtain some varied and complex light effects, such as can be seen in the mausoleum of Galla Placidia in Ravenna, where mosaics interact with the spatial structure of the temple, favouring a transcendent experience for the visitor.

[EN] Given some recent planimetric upheavals and the architectural intervention in which they worked, the authors of this paper dicuss the architectural schemes of the Convent of Montesión in Seville. Comparing these schemes with other works of the same period in Seville and its surroundings, ascribing, for the first time, their authorship to architect Hernán Ruiz II.

  14. LA DOCENCIA DE LA REPRESENTACIÓN PARAMÉTRICA. La Representación Paramétrica y los Procesos no Lineales

    Coloma, Eloi; Mesa, Andrés
[EN] Representations often used by architects to develop his architectural projects contain information about it, but not about modeling processes that have been carried out to obtain those representations, which prevents automation of the modeling processes. This creates a tendency to develop the design process in a linear fashion, since it depends on the creation and maintain of multiple representations that need to be rebuilt manually each time the project changes. The parametric representation, however, is based on the description of the modeling process itself, which offers a radically different way of tackling the problem of representation and, by extension,...

  15. LA BÓVEDA DE CRUCERÍA ANERVADA DEL PORTAL DE QUART DE VALENCIA

Natividad Vivó, Pau; Calvo López, José; Muñoz Cosme, Gaspar
[EN] The central part of the Portal de Quart, one of two surviving gates of the Mediaeval city walls of Valencia, includes a skew ribbed vault, placed over the central tribune, that eschews, for the first time in Hispanic Gothic, the usual solutions based on ribs and severies, using instead only whole ashlars. Such choice poses a number of new geometric problems connected with the design and execution of the vault, which are closer to Renaissance stereotomy than Gothic stonecutting. All this makes the vault a member of outstanding importance for Iberian Construction History. In our paper we present a...

  16. LA ARQUITECTURA DE LA ESCASEZ. LAS CASAS BARATAS DE SANT CUGAT DE SALT DE 1956

Ripoll Masferrer, Ramón; Julián Pérez, Fernando; Espinach Orus, Xavier; Verdaguer Pujadas, Narcís
[EN] The low-cost housing that began to be constructed in the middle of the 20th century in post-war Spain was characterised by its simple construction. Our objective is to demonstrate the relationship between the lack of materials available in post-war Spain (1940- 1960) and the spatial, urbanistic and architectural qualities of these houses. Above all, our objective is to research the constructive possibilities of the vaulted ceiling. This study¿s methodology is both theoretical and practical. Collecting planimetric information on the urban complex and the existing building typologies has allowed us to understand, first hand, the houses¿ architectural characteristics. The system of construction...

León Robles, Carlos; Reinoso Gordo, Juan Francisco; Mataix Sanjuán, Jesús; León Robles, Gloria
[EN] The irrigation communities are watering organizations with extensive experience and efficiency managing water resources. This is the reason why they have remained virtually unaltered along the centuries and they have been taken as a model in many countries which have a similar climatology to the Spanish one. In this article, a short review of one of the oldest irrigation communities in Spain, the Acequia Gorda of the Genil River, has been carried out with the purpose of showing its wide experience as well as its consequent dismantling due to an urban expansion that hasn¿t known how to respect and...

  19. INVENCIÓN ARQUITECTÓNICA, EGA Y LOS "PAISAJES INTERIORES". ARTE, PEDAGOGÍA POÉTICA Y ARQUITECTURA

    Martín San Cristóbal, Francisco
[EN] From a standpoint focused on the teaching of Architectural Graphic Expression, an attempt is made to reflect on the meaning of Poetic Pedagogy in architecture as art, and relate it to the painter Esteban Vicente¿s "interior landscapes", an expression referring to the creation of art by assimilating reality and recreating it internally. The artist¿s invention and freedom during the creative process is the basis for the Poetic Pedagogy which teaches, as do the "interior landscapes", how to interpret reality from a creative, innovative, paradoxical and specifically free perspective, which is the essence of art.
