  1. Ohne Partizipation keine Ernährungswende. Alltagsbeispiel Mittagstisch.

    Hofmann, Roswitha

  2. arules - A Computational Environment for Mining Association Rules and Frequent Item Sets

Hornik, Kurt; Grün, Bettina; Hahsler, Michael
Mining frequent itemsets and association rules is a popular and well researched approach for discovering interesting relationships between variables in large databases. The R package arules presented in this paper provides a basic infrastructure for creating and manipulating input data sets and for analyzing the resulting itemsets and rules. The package also includes interfaces to two fast mining algorithms, the popular C implementations of Apriori and Eclat by Christian Borgelt. These algorithms can be used to mine frequent itemsets, maximal frequent itemsets, closed frequent itemsets and association rules. (authors' abstract)

  7. Die Einbeziehung des privaten Sektors im Bereich der U.S. Army - eine Bestandesaufnahme der wirtschaftlichen, rechtlichen und politischen Aspekte sowie Entwicklungstendenzen

    Fragner, Stefan
Private military companies are not a transient phenomenon, but probably they present the future providers of military activities. Although security and defense have always been tasks that were exclusively performed by government institutions, the state monopoly on the instruments of force was weakened in the last decades as a result of the privatization trend. This change in the supplier of public services was triggered by worldwide occurring austerity measures which had a severe impact on defense budgets that were already heavily charged with enormous costs for more and more important logistic functions and the development of high-tech weapon systems within...

  8. Analyse der Wertschöpfungsketten in der österreichischen Holzwirtschaft mittels Warenstromanalysen und Benchmarking

    Horvath, Karin
The use of supply chain management is of increasing importance in the wood industry. The overall wood-flow starts with standing trees in forests and continues with harvesting, bucking, sorting, transportation to terminals, sawmills, pulp mills, paper mills and heating plants, conversion into products like pulp, paper, lumber and ends at different customers. 237 Co-ordinating this wood-flow is important for the effectiveness of the whole supply chain "wood" as there is a pressure to reduce costs, expand globally, introduce new products fast and increase service levels. This paper analyses the supply chain of the Austrian wood industry and their sub-branches sawmilling...

  10. Analysis and Comparison of the Potential of RFID-technology in US and European retail supply chains

    Hofmayr, Stefan
This thesis presents an analysis of the potential of RFID-technology with a special focus on implementations at retailers. By analysing the RFID-roll outs of Wal-Mart and Metro the thesis outlines the necessary characteristics of a retail supply chain to successfully implement RFID. The changes in a retail supply chain as a consequence of an RFIDimplementation are summarized and a detailed comparison with the two case studies is given. It shows that Wal-Mart's and Metro's supply chain correlate to a great extent with the typology beneficial to a successful RFID-implementation. Nevertheless, a conclusion on the success or failure of the roll-outs...

  12. Die Bedeutung des Informationsaustausches innerhalb von Kooperationen. Dargestellt anhand des ECR-Ansatzes am Beispiel von Triumph International.

    Walenta, Christoph Erich
Increasing competition demands more efficient processing of the value added chain. High flexibility to meet specific customer demands, increasing cost pressure as well as granted on-time delivery have become critical factors to survive in the global market. It is a well known fact throughout the entire business world, that competition is increasing and it becomes tougher and tougher for an organization to keep or even increase market share. In order to meet the increasing pressure, companies have to build closer relationships with their suppliers and customers. Furthermore to succeed in the market, these relationships called alliances, demand harmonized and cooperative...

  13. Wirkungen und Reformmöglichkeiten der Wohnbauförderung und Pendlerpauschale im Hinblick auf Suburbanisierungsprozesse im Großraum Wien

    Jamek, Andrea
(...)This paper has analyzed various statistics about shifts in population between Vienna, Lower-Austria and the Burgenland and the development of housing settlements in Lower-Austria and the Burgenland. It has also attempted to reveal a relationship between commuter traffic to Vienna and the shifts in population and new housing settlements in Lower-Austria and the Burgenland. It has further discussed the role of public housing subsidies and tax incentives for commuters. It has also sought to present alternatives of how to reform the subsidy program and tax incentive program towards more efficient urban planning and commuting schemes in order to lessen the...

  14. Airport Dubai - Evaluation of Dubai as a First Choice Hub for International Travellers

    Uher, Michael
The aviation industry is in a state of radical antagonisms. Passengers demand quick and cheap transport on the one hand, but expect the highest comfort in terms of service, schedule convenience or non-stop travel on the other hand. The development of more efficient and economical aircraft supports the trend of falling tariffs together with better accessibility. Aspects of comfort on the ground as well as in the air are changing, since falling yields force airlines to reconsider their strategies to attract passengers. The market has become instabile somehow. Customers have interesting choices, when it comes to select the favourite airline...

  15. Die Bedeutung des Internets für die traditionelle Luftfrachtspedition

    Kaltenbrunner, Robert
The diploma thesis in hand deals with the use of the internet in the traditional airfreight industry. In the course of this diploma thesis all possible internet applications for the airfreight forwarders are introduced. Furthermore, the benefit in using these applications is presented. After this the results of the empirical survey are delineated and analysed. About 60 percent of the Austrian airfreight forwarders have taken part in the survey. The survey explains that the enterprises know the advantage of the internet and the employees have usually free internet access and an e-mail account. However only 40 % of the companies...

  18. rstream: Streams of Random Numbers for Stochastic Simulation

    L'Ecuyer, Pierre; Leydold, Josef
The package rstream provides a unified interface to streams of random numbers for the R statistical computing language. Features are: * independent streams of random numbers * substreams * easy handling of streams (initialize, reset) * antithetic random variates The paper describes this packages and demonstrates an simple example the usefulness of this approach. (author's abstract)

  19. Quasi Importance Sampling

    Hörmann, Wolfgang; Leydold, Josef
There arise two problems when the expectation of some function with respect to a nonuniform multivariate distribution has to be computed by (quasi-) Monte Carlo integration: the integrand can have singularities when the domain of the distribution is unbounded and it can be very expensive or even impossible to sample points from a general multivariate distribution. We show that importance sampling is a simple method to overcome both problems. (author's abstract)

  20. New Importance Sampling Densities

    Hörmann, Wolfgang
To compute the expectation of a function with respect to a multivariate distribution naive Monte Carlo is often not feasible. In such cases importance sampling leads to better estimates than the rejection method. A new importance sampling distribution, the product of one-dimensional table mountain distributions with exponential tails, turns out to be flexible and useful for Bayesian integration problems. To obtain a heavy-tailed importance sampling distribution a new radius transform for the above distribution is suggested. Together with a linear transform the new importance sampling distributions lead to simple and fast integration algorithms with reliable error bounds. (author's abstract)
