  1. Wirtschaftswachstum und nachhaltiger Wohlstand. Mythen und Messung

    Stockhammer, Engelbert; Fellner, Wolfgang

  3. Regions, technological interdependence and growth in Europe

    Fischer, Manfred M.
This paper presents a theoretical neoclassical growth model with two kinds of capital, and technological interdependence among regions. Technological interdependence is assumed to operate through spatial externalities caused by disembodied knowledge diffusion between technologically similar regions. The transition from theory to econometrics yields a reduced-form empirical model that in the spatial econometrics literature is known as spatial Durbin model. Technological dependence between regions is formulated by a connectivity matrix that measures closeness of regions in a technological space spanned by 120 distinct technological fields. We use a system of 158 regions across 14 European countries over the period from 1995 to 2004 to empirically test the model. The...

  6. IRT models with relaxed assumptions in eRm: A manual-like instruction

    Rusch, Thomas; Hatzinger, Reinhold
Linear logistic models with relaxed assumptions (LLRA) as introduced by Fischer (1974) are a flexible tool for the measurement of change for dichotomous or polytomous responses. As opposed to the Rasch model, assumptions on dimensionality of items, their mutual dependencies and the distribution of the latent trait in the population of subjects are relaxed. Conditional maximum likelihood estimation allows for inference about treatment, covariate or trend effect parameters without taking the subjects' latent trait values into account. In this paper we will show how LLRAs based on the LLTM, LRSM and LPCM can be used to answer various questions about the measurement of change and how they...

  7. Tests of additivity in mixed and fixed effect two-way ANOVA models with single sub-class numbers

Rasch, Dieter; Rusch, Thomas; Simeckova, Marie; Kubinger, Klaus D.; Moder, Karl; Simecek, Petr
In variety testing as well as in psychological assessment, the situation occurs that in a two-way ANOVA-type model with only one replication per cell, analysis is done under the assumption of no interaction between the two factors. Tests for this situation are known only for fixed factors and normally distributed outcomes. In the following we will present five additivity tests and apply them to fixed and mixed models and to quantitative as well as to Bernoulli distributed data. We consider their performance via simulation studies with respect to the type-I-risk and power. Furthermore, two new approaches will be presented, one being a modification of Tukey's test and...

  8. Ergebnisse einer repräsentativen Bevölkerungsbefragung zum Spendenverhalten in Österreich: Auswertungen zu Absetzbarkeit von Spenden, Determinanten des Spendenverhaltens, Langzeitvergleich 1996 - 2008, Spenden im internationalen Vergleich, Spenden an ausgewählte Organisationen

    Neumayr, Michaela; Schober, Christian

  10. Logistische Instrumente zur Förderung der innerstädtischen Nachhaltigkeit. Wiener Kleintransporteure für Sie unterwegs. Kurzfassung der Studie.

    Kummer, Sebastian; Zvokelj, Alexander
12. Sampling from Linear Multivariate Densities

    Hörmann, Wolfgang; Leydold, Josef
It is well known that the generation of random vectors with non-independent components is difficult. Nevertheless, we propose a new and very simple generation algorithm for multivariate linear densities over point-symmetric domains. Among other applications it can be used to design a simple decomposition-rejection algorithm for multivariate concave distributions. (author's abstract)

  13. Pyramiding: Efficient search for rare subjects

von Hippel, Eric; Franke, Nikolaus; Prügl, Reinhard Wilhelm
The need to economically identify rare subjects within large, poorly-mapped search spaces is a frequently-encountered problem for social scientists and managers. It is notoriously difficult, for example, to identify "the best new CEO for our company," or the "best three lead users to participate in our product development project." Mass screening of entire populations or samples becomes steadily more expensive as the number of acceptable solutions within the search space becomes rarer. The search strategy of "pyramiding" is a potential solution to this problem under many conditions. Pyramiding is a search process based upon the idea that people with a strong...

  16. Systemvergleich von intermodalen Verkehren. Fokus Binnenschiff

    Mierka, Felix
This master thesis focuses on a systems comparison of intermodal transport concerning road and inland waterways. Moreover, the master thesis discusses and analyses the potential and importance of inland waterways for the inland transportation of containers from European sea ports to European markets. By doing so, the aim of the thesis was to highlight the parameters of the inland waterway system as well as cost parameters for inland ships carrying containers. The master thesis was compiled in order to answer the following questions properly: Can inland ships provide market-oriented and competitive solutions for the transportation of containers from sea ports...

    Haraslinova, Katarina
With the rising importance of combined transport as well as logistics, the subject of public inland ports is moving once again, after a long time of political default, in the center of discussions in Slovakia. The thesis focuses on answering the question, how the inland port of Bratislava should improve in order to stay competitive in light of the changed economic and political conditions and due to the future prospects of traf-fic development. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the fundamental terms and processes for general understanding of the following contents are explained. In the empirical part, which is...

    Wolff, Michael Herbert
A concert tour is the manifestation of several logistic tasks working together closely. Numerous details have to fall into place at the planned moment. Failure usually results in unwanted disasters and having to reorganize an event as a nightmare. This piece of work analyses the economical background behind the planning and executing of concert touring and describes the relevant tasks that have to be fulfilled in order to make a concert tour a successful series of events (...). 19. Logistische Instrumente zur Förderung innerstädtischer Nachhaltigkeit

    Zvokelj, Alexander
Commercial transportation and all its related stakeholders are faced with new challenges, both from the increasing concentration of urban population and areas, as well as from the ever increasing competition in the transportation services industry. Because the causes of the necessary restructuring in commercial transportation are very complex, this paper will define the parameters, influencing factors and resulting consequences as it applies to commercial transportation in the Vienna metropolitan area. It will include a systematic analysis of the interrelated effects on an economic and ecocologic, as well as on a social level. This method of analysis, using these three supporting...

    Ploberger, Johanna
Based on the unsatisfying situation for all stakeholders on the Austrian inland navigation market the research question of this paper is derived: Are there any universally valid inland navigation success factors? Which are they? Four European inland navigation systems are chosen, analysed and finally compared with the Austrian inland navigation system. The variations which derive from this arrangement are examined more closely. Those which have a positive effect on the progress of the inland navigation system will be designated as success factors. In this diploma thesis eleven success factors could be diagnosed. In the final part of this paper a...
