  1. Uso de simulaciones por ordenador para mejorar la enseñanza en el laboratorio de ingeniería química

    [EN] Virtual labs can be adopted as a complement of the university traditional teaching methodologies. This paper describes the results of a teaching pilot project which enabled the use of a commercial processsimulator (Hysys) in the implementation of five virtual labs related to three important unit operations in Chemical Engineering: liquid-liquid extraction, distillation, and heat exchange. The software provided a new approach to the analysis and interpretation of lab results by students. The educational effectiveness of the implemented project was evaluated through questionnaires, and the results showed that in average more of 85% of the student considered Hysys of great utility in their learning process.   5. Aperiodic Diffract: Estudio de redes difractivas

    [EN] In this work we introduce a virtual laboratory, APERIODIC DIFFRACT, developed in Matlab GUI (Graphical User Interface) as an informatics tool for teaching the diffractive properties of aperiodic gratings. This GUI allows the student to generate aperiodic sequences by iterating and lets to study the spectra for different iterating orders.

This application may be used in diverse fields as in music for tuning musical instruments, in physics for measuring the Doppler effect or in speech recognition systems to determine the fundamental frequency of the voice.
