  1. PEDRO DE GUEVARA Y LA FORTIFICACIÓN DE TRANSICIÓN. EL PLANO PARA LA REFORMA DE LAS DEFENSAS DE VALENCIA DE 1544

Lillo Giner, Santiago; Llopis Verdú, Jorge
[EN] In 1544 Pedro de Guevara executed his plan to reform the defenses of Valencia. This is the first "reliable" cartographic representation of the city and constitutes a paradigmatic example of the so-called Transitional Fortification, but also involves the introduction of the new renaissance way of representing the city, in which the image acquires a strong will to objectivity, clearly different from the idealized graphical view of previous centuries.

  2. RECUPERACIÓN Y DIVULGACIÓN MEDIANTE TÉCNICAS DIGITALES DEL PATRIMONIO CULTURAL VENEZOLANO DESAPARECIDO. RECONSTRUCCIÓN VIRTUAL DEL TEMPLO DE SAN JACINTO, CARACAS. UN CASO DE ESTUDIO

Gasparini, Graziano; Redondo, Ernest; Dávila, Mariolly
[EN] We present an original research that has restored for the first time with digital techniques the missing San Jacinto Church in Caracas (1595 -1821) an important example of Venezuelan religious architecture and relationship between Canarias and Venezuela, highlighting its wooden múdejar cover, technology that lasted until 19th century as opposed to the rest of Ibero-America by using various multimedia technologies. Based on bibliographic sources, archeologist excavations, urban planimetric, paintings, church photography, contemporary ¿retables¿ and applying our experience in the religious heritage restoration, we have defined a typological model and generated a low cost methodology applicable to teachings for data...

  3. MODULACIÓN, TIPOLOGÍA DE TRAMAS Y AJUSTE A LOS LÍMITES EN LA METROLOGÍA ARQUITECTÓNICA CLÁSICA

    Roldán, Francisco
[EN] The results obtained in the graphic analysis of the modulation of the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo building in Granada, Spain, (Roldán 2011) have provided new insights to further researches on the possible use of double-scale in ancient architecture. We propose the characterization of the singularities of the system in order to be able to elucidate the knowledge which has not been preserved, taking advantage of the implications and graphic representation required by the metrological scheme identified, the variety of typologies that are presented in their modular frames, as well as the adjustment to each design limits. By means of...

  4. MEDIO AMBIENTE Y MODERNIDAD EN LA OBRA DE LE CORBUSIER A TRAVÉS DEL DIBUJO

    Requena Ruiz, Ignacio
[EN] The crisis of international architecture, at the first 30s, introduced new ties to place and local culture. Climate was one of outstanding matters which approached the modern movement to national architecture. The work of Le Corbusier reflects all this changing period and his drawings show three different phases. This particular view of modernity could build the basis for an architecture adapted to the environment from the beginning of the project.

  5. LOS RETRATOS DE CARMEN GAUDIN

    Montes Serrano, Carlos
[EN] Among drawing masters of all times Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec clearly stands out. His sketches, posters, drawings and paintings on cardboard still keep open mouthed all those who deals with graphic art. This brief essay is about the portrait which appears so prominet in Lautrec¿s work, from the deep study of the ten paintings he made of his favourite model Carmen Gaudin. We offer a new approach about the datation of these portraits and a possible solution to the fact of her apparent shyness to show her whole face.

  6. LOS ORÍGENES DE LA IGLESIA-FORTALEZA DE CASTIELFABIB. ANÁLISIS GRÁFICOS

López González, Concepción; García Valldecabres, Jorge
[EN] The church at Castielfabib was originally a Moorish castle. After the Christian conquest of Spain it was modified and converted into a tower which paid homage to the conquerors. Later the tower was altered and extended and turned into a Christian church. There are no existing documents concerning these changes. A graphical survey and analysis of the measurement systems used in its construction have allowed us to determine the constructive evolution of the building.

  7. LOS DIBUJOS ORIGINALES DE LOS PALACIOS DE LA ALHAMBRA DE J. F. LEWIS (h. 1832-33)

    Gámiz Gordo, Antonio
[EN] John Frederick Lewis, a young artist and a master of line drawing, painted some works considered among the most beautiful images of the Alhambra in all its graphic history. These drawings, most of them devoted to the Nasrid palaces, were published in 1835 as lithographs. The present study shows some of Lewis¿s precise originals, not widely known, made around 1832-33. These drawings, nowadays scattered across museums or private collections, possess a great documentary value regarding this monument listed as world cultural heritage. Lewis¿s friendship with other artists of the period who also took interest in the Alhambra has also been...

  8. LAS CASAS SOÑADAS DE ALBERTO CAMPO BAEZA: NOSTALGIA

    Galván Desvaux, Noelia
[EN] Alberto Campo Baeza¿s work focuses on the exploration of the fundamentals of architecture from the self-restraint and wisdom that experiece can provide. However, despite being one of the most renowned Spanish architects, he keeps working in domestic as well as institutional projects. Probably, the reason is that he finds in the houses a field of experimentation at a small scale that allows him to put his ideas into practice later on in major works. In all likelihood, the explanation is that, in the house, Campo Baeza identifies the keys of human dwelling, and he develops them from the usual...

  9. LA REPRESENTACIÓN DE LA CIUDAD, ENTRE LA PLANTA Y EL VOLUMEN: EL PLANO DEL PRADO Y LA MAQUETA DE LA GRAN VÍA DE MADRID

Ortega Vidal, Javier; Martínez Díaz, Ángel; Muñoz de Pablo, María José
[EN] Two productions in the field of urban representation applied to the City of Madrid are introduced here. They may be understood as partial "portrayals" of two monumental areas, the Prado-Recoletos Axis and Gran Via. The conceptual unit is established on the basis of two mixed considerations: on the one side, the possibilities of action in the context of new graphic media and the ancient purposes of drawing; on the other side, the relationship between research and dissemination in the field of urban cartography in a broader sense.

  10. LA FOTOGRAMETRÍA DIGITAL AUTOMATIZADA FRENTE A LOS SISTEMAS BASADOS EN SENSORES 3D ACTIVOS

    Rodríguez Navarro, Pablo
[EN] The value of digital photogrammetry is being reassessed based on the use of automated methods which avoid the laborious production process and that meet the quality requirements photorealism demands. However, to what degree do its applications resemble the methods based on laser scanners? What are its strengths? What are its weaknesses? This article will attempt to answer these and other questions. Its approach is based on the comparison of process and result of two surveys performed using both systems, photogrammetric and laser scanner. The results of the comparative analysis will be shown, concentrating especially on matters such as the...

García Doménech, Sergio; Ros McDonnell, Diego; Martí Ciriquián, Pablo
[EN] This article analyses graphic expression as a tool for the transmission of the information contained in urban planning instruments and aims to open a line of research on its standardisation. To this end, this work identifies some of the tools of graphic expression used in two milestone events in the history of urban planning: the Spanish expansion plans for population centres in the mid-19th century and the Modern Movement of the first third of the 20th century. The article exemplifies how these proposals included criteria for the possible standardisation of graphic expression in urban planning. As a way of...

  13. LA ARQUITECTURA DIAGRAMÁTICA Y SOSTENIBLE DE BIG

    Escoda Pastor, Carmen
[EN] In the search for new analysis systems and new social, economic and environmental rapprochement formulas, some architects now reinterpret and experiment with graphic and iconographic mechanisms used in other time periods and fields. Regarding Bjarke Ingels (BIG), hisdiagrammatic discourse combined with his comic drawings has been proposing different approaches to understanding architecture, which offers a great diversity of uses and typologies adapted to the contemporary needs of society. An analysis of new relationships questions various economic, cultural, constructive, environmental and sustainability aspects. This allows for the introduction of a series of innovative concepts that concern environmental ecology and economy,...

Likewise, some of the drawings and photographs of the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, these last produced especially by Ezra Stoller, have become points of reference of the same. It goes on to discuss in particular the images of the Robie House and the various processes undergone by what could be considered a canonical image of it, though its specific authorship is unknown.

  15. HABITAR LA GEOMETRÍA: DIÁLOGOS ENTRE LA RECTA Y LA CURVA

Sanz Alarcón, Juan Pedro; García Martínez, Pedro; Centellas Soler, Miguel
[EN] The geometry has been one of the key tools used by twentieth century architects. If the research is delimitated by relationship between two of the most important elements of it, the straight line and the curve by mean of the study of three paradigmatic houses, we can focus on the importance of the geometric conception of domestic space at different scales and at different historical moments. In a first approach the straight-line relationship through the Le Corbusier¿s mother¿s house on the Lake Leman (1925) is studied, then the dialogue between the straight and curved geometry in the House Baensch...

Optical aberrations are analized, also basics of camera calibration and image correction process using free software are exposed. Software download links are provided. The article concludes with several examples applying the...

  17. ENCUADRES DEL JARDÍN. VISITA GRÁFICA POR LOS IDEALES DEL JARDÍN DOMÉSTICO MODERNO

    Tuset, Juan J.
[EN] The imaginary of drawing is enlarged when we visit the architectural drawings graphically. Touring the modern home garden through its graphic visit helps to reveal the ideas expressed in the delimitation of its forms. Starting in the sinuous curves of Burle Marx, witnessing the static landscapes of Le Corbusier and the views framed by Mies van der Rohe, being introduced in the designs of Garrett Eckbo and then traveling across the different adaptations of nature in the drawings of Erskine, Neutra and Coderch will be the first steps in a process of a fascinating, long and lonely discovery. All...

  18. EL ANÁLISIS DOCUMENTAL Y EL LEVANTAMIENTO COMO METODOLOGÍA DE INVESTIGACIÓN EN ARQUITECTURAS DESAPARECIDAS: EL FUERTE DE SAN FELIPE Y EL MUELLE DE LA RIZA EN LA DESEMBOCADURA DEL GUADALQUIVIR
