SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online
(52,375 recursos)
SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) is an electronic library covering a selected collection of Brazilian scientific journals. The objective of the site is to implement an electronic virtual library, providing full access to a collection of serial titles, a collection of issues from individual serial titles, as well as to the full text of articles. The project envisages the development of a common methodology for the preparation, storage, dissemination and evaluation of scientific literature in electronic format.

On the geometry of Poincaré's problem for one-dimensional projective foliations - SOARES,MARCIO G.
We consider the question of relating extrinsic geometric characters of a smooth irreducible complex projective variety, which is invariant by a one-dimensional holomorphic foliation on a complex projective space, to geometric objects associated to the foliation.

Supramolecular ionics: electric charge partition within polymers and other non-conducting solids - GALEMBECK,FERNANDO; COSTA,CARLOS A. R.; GALEMBECK,ANDRÉ; SILVA,MARIA DO CARMO V. M.
Electrostatic phenomena in insulators have been known for the past four centuries, but many related questions are still unanswered, for instance: which are the charge-bearing species in an electrified organic polymer, how are the charges spatially distributed and which is the contribution of the electrically charged domains to the overall polymer properties.

Synthesis of calcium-phosphate and chitosan bioceramics for bone regeneration - FINISIE,MELLATIE R.; JOSUÉ,ATCHE; FÁVERE,VALFREDO T.; LARANJEIRA,MAURO C. M.
Bioceramic composites were obtained from chitosan and hydroxyapatite pastes synthesized at physiological temperature according to two different syntheses approaches.

Volcanism and stratigraphy of the Neoproterozoic Campo Alegre Basin, SC, Brazil - CITRONI,SERGIO B.; BASEI,MIGUEL A. S.; SIGA JR.,OSWALDO; REIS NETO,JOSÉ M. DOS
The different stratigraphic units are interpreted as belonging to different volcanic stages: Bateias Formation, conglomerates and sandstones, related with a pre-volcanic stage; Campo Alegre Group, at the main volcanic stage, with each different formation corresponding to different episodes of volcanism - Rio Negrinho Formation, corresponding to the basic volcanism, Avenca Grande Formation to ignimbritic event, Serra de São Miguel Formation to the acid volcanism and Fazenda Uirapuru Formation, related to an explosive event; Rio Turvo and Arroio Água Fria formations correspond respectively to inner and extra-caldera deposits.

High and low frequency erosive and constructive cycles in estuarine beaches: an example from Garcez Point, Bahia/Brazil - BITTENCOURT,ABÍLIO C.S.P.; LESSA,GUILHERME C.; DOMINGUEZ,JOSÉ M.L.; MARTIN,LOUIS; VILAS BÔAS,GERALDO S.; FARIAS,FÉLIX F.
Monitoring of the morphodynamic variations of the beaches associated with an estuary contiguous with Garcez Point, Bahia, Brazil, and the superposition of aerial photographs from the region, show the presence of distinctive erosive and constructive cycles of low and high frequencies.

Umbilic and Tangential Singularities on Configurations of Principal Curvature Lines - GARCIA,RONALDO; SOTOMAYOR,JORGE
In this paper is studied the relationship between quadratic tangencies of principal lines with the boundary of a surface and the Darbouxian umbilics of a smooth boundaryless surface which approximates it through the process of thickening and smoothing defined here.

Constant mean curvature one surfaces in hyperbolic 3-space using the Bianchi-Calò method - LIMA,LEVI L. DE; ROITMAN,PEDRO
In this note we present a method for constructing constant mean curvature on surfaces in hyperbolic 3-space in terms of holomorphic data first introduced in Bianchi's Lezioni di Geometria Differenziale of 1927, therefore predating by many years the modern approaches due to Bryant, Small and others.

The lizard cerebral cortex as a model to study neuronal regeneration - LOPEZ-GARCIA,CARLOS; MOLOWNY,ASUNCION; NACHER,JUAN; PONSODA,XAVIER; SANCHO-BIELSA,FRANCISCO; ALONSO-LLOSA,GREGORI
The medial cerebral cortex of lizards, an area homologous to the hippocampal fascia dentata, shows delayed postnatal neurogenesis, i.e., cells in the medial cortex ependyma proliferate and give rise to immature neurons, which migrate to the cell layer.
