    [EN] A thought that generates the idea as a matter of drawing. A zero degree drawing is a matter of initiation. At the initiation lays the spirit and the potentials that give birth to inspirations aiming to necessities. Kahn said: “it is a good thing that the mind goes back to the initiation because, for any constituted human activity, the initiation is the most marvellous moment”. Louis I. Kahn loved the initiations: “The initiations get me full of wonder. I believe that the initiation is a guarantee of prosecution. If this one does not occur, nothing could or would exist”.

  4. San Francisco de Betanzos. Una arquitectura desaparecida en el Camino Inglés de Santiago de Compostela

    [ES] El convento franciscano de Betanzos (La Coruña), desaparecido tras la Desamortización de Mendizábal de 1835, contaba con un claustro de columnas pareadas de gran valor artístico que fue desmontado en 1873. Comenzó de esta manera, la destrucción del que fuera uno de los principales conventos de Galicia. En este artículo se plantea la hipótesis del primer asentamiento en el siglo xiv, así como el análisis de un convento siempre afectado por la evolución de la ciudad. El estudio se ha basado en el examen e interpretación de documentos históricos que han permitido la reconstrucción virtual del cenobio mendicante.

  6. Patrones formales en el proyecto paisajista

    [EN] In this paper we propose a typology of patterns –or composition systems– for the morphological definition of horizontal surfaces in landscape design. Specifically, we state that the basic ways to define such horizontal surfaces in landscape design fit four possible composition systems or organizational patterns, which we will call Carpets, Paths, Mosaics and Strata. After identifying the characteristic and differential features of each of these patterns, which we will validate by contrasting them with exemplary works taken from historical and contemporary landscape architecture.

  7. MoGaMo. Un ejemplo multidisciplinar en los cincuenta

    [EN] Today, interdisciplinary collaboration has become fashionable, yet it is important to remember that architects have been using this practice for a long time. This article discovers an almost completely unknown movement led by one of the most charismatic Spanish architects of the 1950s, Ramón Vázquez Molezún. Using the pseudonym of MoGaMo, Molezún, together with the sculptor Amadeo Gabino and Molezún’s cousin, painter Manuel Suárez Molezún, created a series of exhibition installations in the early 1950s. Ultimately, this union of the arts (architecture, sculpture and painting) came to play a crucial role in the development of Modern Spanish architecture.

    [EN] This work is intended to analyze and eventually assess the meaning of some theories of proportion, often posed from false premises of objectivity and scientific certainty. We seek to make evident the symbolic character of an important part of these systems. In this framework we weigh the assessment of metaphorical or poetic aspects. To that end, clichés and abuses of the theories obsessed in the definition of mathematical formulas that too often try to roughly certify themselves in all kind of examples are questioned.
