[EN] The aim of this research was to study rabbit digestive system at two ages during weaning by
evaluating alkaline phosphatase (ALP) intestinal distribution and morphological, biochemical and haematological
variables. Two groups of six New Zealand White x California rabbits, of 21 and 35 d of age respectively, were
used. Significant differences between the two ages on live body weight (P<0.001), small intestine length
(P<0.01) and pancreas weight (P<0.01) were noticed, being higher in 35 d rabbits. No differences were
observed in the a-amylase activity of the jejunum. Nevertheless, a-amylase activity of blood serum was almost
twice in 35-d rabbits compared to younger rabbits (P<0.05). Blood...

[EN] This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of Bacillus cereus var. toyoi (Toyocerin¿ 109) on
performance of rabbit does during two reproductive cycles. A total of 102 does were assigned to three
treatments: T0 (basal diet), T200 (basal diet + 0.2 g Toyocerin¿/kg feed) and T1000 (basal diet + 1 g Toyocerin¿/
kg feed). The experimental diets contained a coccidiostat and were given ad libitum. No antibiotics were
administered with the feed or water along the trial. Artificial insemination (AI) of does was performed 11 days
(d) after kindling and kits were weaned at 35 d of age. Does, kits and feed...

[EN] Among the main physiological stress indicators, the temperature evaluation is very important and
innovative because it may be monitored without directly interacting with the animal. The use of a thermographic
system, which is based on the detection of infrared radiation emitted by a subject, is a suitable method in order
to measure temperature without any contact. In this research, a thermographic system was employed in order
to single out the rabbit skin's zones most suitable for the temperature monitoring during stress challenges. Six
hybrid rabbits were observed during induced stress; the areas selected as reference were: the ocular area
(globe and periocular area), the internal...

[EN] An in vivo digestibility trial and a fattening trial were carried out to evaluate the potential dietary use of a dehydrated Ceratitis capitata exhausted diet (CED) on growing rabbits. For the digestibility trial, 2 pelleted diets were manufactured including 0 and 50% of dry matter (DM), excluding the premix, from CED (CED0 and CED50 diets, respectively), using 10 three-way crossbred rabbits of 42 days of age per diet. For the fattening trial, 3 almost iso-energetic, iso-protein and iso-fibrous pelleted diets were manufactured including 0, 15 and 30% of DM from CED (CED0, CED15 and CED30 diets, respectively), and offered...
