  3. GENETIC CHARACTERISTICS AND DISTANCES AMONGST SPANISH AND FRENCH RABBIT POPULATIONS

    Martin-Burriel, I.; Marcos, S.; Osta, R.; García-Muro, E.; Zaragoza, P.
[EN] A total of 990 rabbits were tested using 18 blood electrophoretic markers. These animals belong to 6 breed populations presently breed in Spain (Spanish Common, Spanish Giant, Butterfly, Burgandy Fawn, New Zealand White and Californian), one Spanish cross-breed population, three French crossbreed populations originated from the INRA selected lines (1077, 2066 and 9077) and one Wild Spanish population. 12 markers were found to be polymorphic (Dia-2, 6-Pgd, Es-1, Es-2, Es-3, Es-7, Ada, Hp, Tf, Ca-2 and Hb), each one being controlled by one locus and showing autosomal co-dominant Mendelian inheritance. We have found large differences in gene frequencies of Dia-2, 6-Pgd, Ada, Es-1, Es-2 and Es-3 loci in French...

  5. ETUDE PATHOLOGIQUE DE LA PODODERMATITE CHEZ LES LAPINS REPRODUCTEURS DE SOUCHE LOURDE SUR GRILLAGE

    Drescher, B.; Schlender- Böbbis, I.
[EN] Paws from female breeding ZIKA-rabbits out of a conventional husbandry - single caged on wired floor - have been investigated pathologic-anatomically and -histologically. The found alterations could be classified in 6 stages, which are demonstrated in detail to show the pathogenesis of the pododermatitis. The 6 stages of the histological findings are presentad in a histo-dermogram, making evident the progressing loss of histological structures up to the end of total necrosis. The possibilities of regeneration and reparation are discussed as well as the valuation of the damage under animal protection aspects.

  7. ETUDE DE LA RESISTANCE ACQUISE PAR LA LAPINE REPRODUCTRICE IMMUNISEE AVEC UNE LIGNEE PRECOCE d'Eimeria magna ET DE SA TRANSMISSION A SA PORTEE.

    Drouet-Viard, F.; Coudert, P.; Roux, C.; Licois, D.; Boivin, M.
[EN] Fifty two coccidia free rabbit does were used in this experiment an~ 26 of them were immunized by repeated per os inoculations of 10 oocysts of Eimeria magna precocious line during gestation. The oocyst output was completely controlled after the third inoculation and signs of disease were never observed. The serum antibodies (Ab) were titrated by an ELISA method. In the controls, the Ab titers were constantly below the optical density 0.25 at the wave length 405nm. In immunized does, the Ab level began to increase 4 weeks after the first inoculation. Booster inoculations given 7 and 4 days before parturition produced a high increase of Ab level. 26...

    Garcia-Ximenez, F.; Escriba, M.J.
[EN] A simple and inexpensive folliculocentesis set was developed for in vivo recovery of rabbit fol\icular oocytes. The work focused on evaluating recovery rates and procedure sequels. The folliculocentesis set was composed of two concentric catheters. Briefly, the procedure involves inserting the needle point, attached to the inner catheter, into the follicular cavity; flushing the perfusion medium at the same time, in order to wash the follicular contents. 14 does were used in this experiment. Folliculocentesis was performed 7-9 hours alter hCG-treatment (25 IU). The maximum diameter of the intact follicles to be punctured was 1.5 mm. The average operating time was around 14 minutes per doe. Overa\\, per...

  17. CHARACTERISTICS OF ANGORA RABBIT FIBRE 2 -THE INFLUENCE OF THE METHIONINE CONTENT IN FEED AND OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL TEMPERATURE ON FIBRE AND MEDULLA DIAMETER IN ANGORA WOOL

    Herrmann, S.; Lange, K.; Wortmann, F.J.
[EN] The influence of different environmental factors on !he Angora wool quality was determined whilst investigating the effect of the methionine content in feed and of the environmental temperature on fibre and medulla diameter. The supplementation of DL-methionine increases the mean fibre diameter of female Angora rabbits from 12.5 to 14.4 μm and that of males from 13.2 to 13.9 μm. lt is shown that females respond more (1.9 μm mean increase in fibre diameter) to methionine supplementation than males (0.7 μm increase). The response in medulla diameter is similar to that of the fibre diameter in females, i.e. medulla diameter increases (1 μm increase) when additional methionine is supplied. DL-methionine...

  19. CHARACTERISTICS OF ANGORA RABBIT FIBRE 1 - THE INFLUENCE OF FIBRE ORIGIN ON FIBRE AND MEDULLA DIAMETER IN ANGORA WOOL

    Herrmann, S.; Wortmann, G.; Wortmann, F.J.
[EN] The quality of Angora rabbit fibre is known to vary between the countries in which it is produced. A study was made to quantify various parameters of angora fibre quality, including fibre and medulla diameter, and the proportion of medullated fibres, in samples of angora wool obtained from Germany, France and China. The mean fibre diameter of the French angora fleeces (19.8 μm) is significantly higher than in German (12.8 μm) which is related to the higher proportion of coarser hairs in the pelage of French Angora rabbits. French Angora rabbits have a characteristic fleece structure. The down fibres (mean fibre diameter: 14.1 μm) are coarser than in German...
