Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar e analisar o custo/aluno no ano de 2004, de duas escolas da Rede Estadual de Ensino do Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul, no qualprocurou identificar os principais elementos que compõem o custo direto de funcionamento dessas escolas com o objetivo de verificar quanto o poder público gasta efetivamente na unidade escolar e comparar o valor levantado com os parâmetros estabelecidos pela polÃtica de financiamento do ensino público, polÃtica essa focalizada no Ensino Fundamental.
