CHARACTERIZING COMPLETE WEAK EFFICIENCY IN MULTIPLE OBJECTIVE LINEAR PROGRAMMING - Jesús Jorge; Investigación Operativa Y Computación
The phenomenon consisting in all the feasible region of a multiple objective linear programming problem being weakly efficient, may be less unlikely than has been believed, particularly for problems whose feasible regions have no interior. To deal with such possibility of complete weak efficiency, we would

Digital Library Content Production, - A. Bia; Centro De Investigación Operativa; Hernández Elche; Alejandro Bia; Centro De Investigación Operativa (cio
We have been working on several digital library (DL) projects since 1999. In all of them we applied software engineering principles and methods to optimize DL content production. First we started by designing and implementing a production workflow. Then we developed the tools to automate several parts of the production process. We will describe these tools and the technology involved. Digital Libraries or Digital Publishers? Whether a digital library is more similar to a conventional library than to a publishing house is a matter of discussion. Digital libraries, like conventional libraries, provide bibliographic resources for public access. Unlike conventional libraries...

Order Patterns and Chaos - J. M. Amigó; L. Kocarev; J. Szczepanski; Centro De Investigación Operativa; Hernández Elche; José M. Amigó; Janusz Szczepanski; Centro De Investigación Operativa
Abstract. Chaotic maps can mimic random behavior in a quite impressive way. In particular, those possessing a generating partition can produce any symbolic sequence by properly choosing the initial state. We study in this letter the ability of chaotic maps to generate order patterns and come to the conclusion that their performance in this respect falls short of expectations. This result reveals some basic limitation of a deterministic dynamic as compared to a random one. This being the case, we propose a non-statistical test based on ‘forbidden ’ order patterns to discriminate chaotic from truly random time series with, in...
