Thermodynamic studies and applications of polymeric membranes to fuel cells and microcapsules Luizildo Pitol Filho As raw materials, polymers have wide applications in chemical engineering, especially in novel technologies, such as membranes. Polymeric membranes are structures formed from organic solutions once the solvent is removed either by evaporation or by the addition of a non-solvent. Flat-sheet membranes are formed when a thin layer of polymeric solution is deposited over a glass plate. To form dense membranes, just evaporation of the solvent is needed.
