1. Sungbok Hong - Sungbok Hong
A limit point p of a Mobius group acting on B m is called a concentration point if for every sufficiently small connected open neighborhood of p,the set of translates contains a local basis for the topology of p. In this note, we investigate the general relations between several concentration properties. 1 Introduction The action of a Fuchsian or Kleinian group on the sphere at infinity can be examined from several viewpoints, and the resulting interplay between topology, geometry, number theory, and analysis brings richness and beauty to the subject. The topological viewpoint provides the starting point for much of the theory, in that it gives the dichotomy between the region...

6. Cheng Hong Yang - Cheng Hong Yang
This report has be written within the scope of the course TEL-7403 summer 1995 under the direction of Prof. Janusz Konrad, my director of research. The main aim of this work is to lay out useful geometric models for further study in stereoscopic video processing. The fundamental concepts in stereoscopic processing are reviewed in company with geometric models. We try describe the concerned problems not only by giving simply a definition but also by giving a mathematical analysis. Another aim is to develop a technique to eliminate vertical parallax due to the fact that the sensor planes are not parallel in a toed-in camera setup. Finally some...

ATM is becoming a widely used technology as a backbone for connecting data networks. An important consideration when analyzing the performance of data traffic over switched networks such as ATM is the routing scheme utilized. The IP layer traditionally handles all routing processes in TCP/IP networks. For ATM, OPNET contains standard models that map IP packet traffic to ATM virtual circuits. However, there have been many advances in IP switches and IP routing over ATM that should be considered. A simulation model may need to incorporate hop-by-hop IP routing, shortcut ATM routing and IP flow switching. This paper surveys the current state-of-the-art in integrated IP over ATM routing. Related topics in TCP and...

Much of the explosive growth of the Internet can be attributed to the popularity of web service. Corporate intranets are also becoming web-centric as web based distribution is becoming a popular method of distributing data. Thus, analyzing the performance of web servers is a crucial component in analyzing the performance of data networks. This paper highlights facets of web server software and hardware design that may impact its performance and discusses model parameterization.

11. Hong Kong wrap - Huppatz, D. J.
Art scene review. Dropping into Hong Kong for ten days after a sleepy Melbourne winter is a shock to the system, particularly if arriving at night when it's still nearly 30 degrees and very humid. The saturation of neon signs and advertising images, combined with the frenetic pace and emphasis on high technology---from super-efficient transport systems to the latest digital consumables---make Hong Kong a model global metropolis of the 21st century. In recent years, Hong Kong's vibrant art scene has begun to attract much international attention, particularly independent spaces such as Para/Site and 1aspace with their continuing exchange programs and...

This report presents the work involved in developing an adaptive web site, JointZone that personalises student learning on the web. The work combined user modeling, domain modeling and adaptive hypermedia techniques to deliver a personalised web-based learning environment. The idea of keyword indexing and the site layout structure was used to model the domain giving a conceptual and structural representation of the content. The student model involves the novel idea of using effective reading speed to better gauge if a student has read a page. The project applied the combination of adaptive link hiding and link annotation on a fully functional web site to present an adaptive web-based learning...

18. The three blessings of Hong Kong's development - So, Alvin Y.
Hong Kong's development has been positively affected by three events in the East Asian region: the Cold War in the 1950's, national integration in China in the 1980s, and the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s. These three events shaped three distinct phases in Hong Kong's development.

19. The Hong Kong Tax System : an Overview - Greig, John
The Hong Kong tax system is generally regarded as relatively simple and favourable to the taxpayer compared to that of many industrialised nations. In view of the growing importance of Asian-Pacific economies, a familiarity with the basic tenets of different countries' tax systems is a necessity. Hong Kong provides valuable lessons and examples.

C.; Scorsetti,A. C.
