    In this work the applicability of the IEC 60891 norm – Procedures for temperature and irradiance corrections to measured I–V characteristics – for translations to the Standard Test Condition (STC) is analysed. Focus is given on the 1st and 2nd procedures of the norm, as these were found more suitable for translations to STC than the 3rd method.   14. Seismic Signal Detection by Fractal Dimension Analysis

    Abstract We introduce a new detection algorithm with improved local and re-gional seismic signal recognition. The method is based on the difference between seismic signals and background random noise in terms of fractal dimension D. We compare the new method extensively with standard methods currently in use at the Seismic Network of the lstituto Nazionale di Geofisica. Results from the comparisons show that the new method recognizes seismic phases detected by existing procedures, and in addition, it features a greater sensitivity to smaller signals, without an increase in the number of false alarms. Seismic probing of the upper crust in a catazonal massif in Tras 0s Montes, Hercynian Iberia, demonstrates the absence of a root towards- the lower crust and favours a mechanism of thrust and nappe emplacement. Similar high to low velocity successions in the upper crust are evidenced in particular segments of the Hercynian domain of France. All these occurrences are related to a type region to which a particular meaning has been given in a recent plate tectonics interpretation of the Hercynian orogenesis.
