1. Soluciones integrales a la problemática de conservación de los acabados arquitectónicos de Mayapán, Yucatán - Vázquez Veiga, Adela; García Solís, Claudia Araceli; García Vierna, Valeria
Mayapán boasts various sculptural and pictorial elements that hold great aesthetic and informative value. Nevertheless, these quite important samples from the Post-classic period, suffer from an accelerated degradation process, mainly due to the constant use of inappropriate refurbishment / restoration materials, specifically synthetic polymers and cement in great quantities. In 2006 a new intervention phase was initiated in Mayapán focused on understanding the complex set of problems that the architectural finishes face while exposed, and on diminishing the greatest damages. New technologies for mural painting conservation have been proposed and experimented as well, with the sole purpose of removing the layers of polymers covering the surface. However, this solution may only be consistent on...

Samples, where the sodium fluoride was applied, are part of a cornice found at the archaeological zone of the Río Bec, in the town of Calakmul in Campeche. The composition of the rock, its deterioration and physical properties were studied by different analytical techniques (Scanning Electron Microscopy – SEM , petrography, Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy – EDS , X-Ray diffraction– XRD , among others), in order to compare to the samples treated. With a low...

6. El Panteón Inglés de Real del Monte: una aproximación para su conservación integral - Beato King, Raquel; Lameda-Díaz Osnaya, Martha
